I've had chickens since 1986, small amounts up to 200 hens. Sometimes I just downsize and just feed us. That should scare the ones that don't raise food.

I have two dehydrator going all the time. People stores will sale pulled food for nothing so take it. I got 50 lb carrots for $2.00 yes and head's of cabbage for $.50 cents talk to the head person. Then learn to dehydrate it. Kiss this lady and hug her words she is on top of it. Don't throw out food

Eggs in Iowa Walmart are raised considerably. I no longer drive. So, I ordered from Walmart online. The DoorDash delivers. The last time I got 3 dozen eggs the price was $4.13. Yesterday All of the Great Value eggs were out of stock. Uh oh~ I got what I could. I got 18 eggs for $4.38 from a name brand. The shells showed the quality …and they were out of donuts, too. Our farm neighbors' chickens got bird flu. 5.3 million were destroyed.
If I was 20 years younger I'd be homesteading. I miss the chickens and the goats. I miss reaching in the ground to grab potatoes. (I have mine currently in a grow bag in the kitchen. Egg shells are saved to add to the soil.)

This year is going to be the year everyone needs to grow a garden and start stocking up on flour and rice and beans. Another thing. Stop throwing your sour milk away. Turn it into cheese and stock up your pantries. It's protein.
