Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

G'day Everyone, this video is a bit longer than usual because I wanted to show the preparation and assessment of all three beds in the one upload with extra context. In the age of ever-shortening content, I hope you felt entertained enough to watch it all the way through without getting too bored lol… Thanks for your support! Cheers, Mark
Dude, your content makes me really want to start a garden! I discovered you yesterday and quickly subbed! I just finished planting some cherry tomatoes and trying to sprout some paprika seeds I stored some time ago. Fingers crossed they will all grow into beautiful plants. ^^ Thank you for your videos!
I really like how your keeping it simple. I don't have the big equipment.
This guy definitely used to play rugby
This man is massive.
If a snake dies in your land, you must give funeral to it according to Hinduism. If you don't you will have a lot of misfortunes and troubles in life which is referred to as Sarpa Dosh.
Mark, did you make those galvanized beds, or purchase them? I love the waist-high beds. Much easier on the back of the gardener.
Should have planted some snake beans.
You are awesome thumbs up! Girl friend recommended the video
There is a pea eggplant and some tree in the corn bed .
Great vid, thanks Mark. Planted some sneaky corn this week too, to hopefully get a crop in before winter arrives. Fingers crossed for both of us!
Hey Mark; another good video. Just wondering if you regret putting those 4 beds butted together and having to walk all the way round to work on the other side? Cheers from Vic, Aus.
Hi, what are those big metal raised beds called please? I’m trying to find something like those here in the UK.
Have the recent rains plagued you at all? Or are you elevated?
I'll just hold my breath… my nose is a bit of a filter. Love that. Your property is super beautiful man. Glad I found this channel.
The grip of NE winter is finally loosening and I'm so excited for warmer weather and getting outside to garden. Thanks for inspiring!
Mark been watching for years now and even though we are in different climates, im uk. And we grow different veggies. Your videos are the best and you've taught me so much. Thank you
8:00 are those monkey sounds?
i was watching your video What Happens When You REGROW Vegetables From Kitchen SCRAPS in the Garden? and i noticed you tried to plant your carrots upside down, lol why? you put the tops in the ground!
What is the mulch for? Beginner here.
what a legend
steve irwin of youtube except without crocs its crops
Always enjoy your videos thank you. Just want to say that those weeds you chopped in on the second bed are a wild amaranth and the leaves are great in stir fries or soup. Here in Hawaii we call it Chinese Spinach.
Keep waiting for you to say at the beginning, "Let's Dig In"…….LOL
