I live in southern Ohio and I start ginger outside in May every year. Does wonderful never started indoors. Just fyi!
Ginger root is so great for medicine and really great for an infected tooth
Your sweet potatoes won't be ready until to late for this year. Try and lay them sideways in soil, about half way covered with soil. The slips grow and when your ready to transplant the slips you might have them ready. Keep your potato on that heat mat along with your container. Some use a square water bottle laying on its side with 1/3 of the top removed. Good luck.
Must be something in the air! I was starting sweet potato slips and planting ginger on Friday too. I always love your videos. I put them on while I am cooking and cleaning, and you keep me motivated. Thank you for sharing all of this.
That attitude you have of not giving up even when sh*t hits the fan is clearly why you have been able to accomplish and learn so much! Life throws so many issues our way, so we just gotta stand up, brush off the dirt, and keep going!
Thanks again for sharing ❣
I have also always used potting mix for starting seeds (don't think i have ever bought seed mix) because sometimes seed mix is more expensive and I just use the potting mix as an all rounder, never had an issue with it so I hope you don't either. x
I assume you are turning your tomato starts, and the big ones may be too close to your light. Either way, I would remove the big ones and temporarily pot inside till removal to the outside.
(Pam Bilyeu here) I would suggest getting a digital PDF of the manual, them put in REVERSE contrast. The words become white and black background is SO much easier on eyes…and for some reason is easier to absorb.
Also, if you need to.print things try a different color paper. Yellow, light green or light blue. White activate every color sensing cell in retinal, black…none. So when you use one color of paper…some cells get to ‘rest’ and it i clearer and less tiring to read. HTH.
I may be wrong, but in the photos your tomato seedlings look purplish which can be a vitamin deficiency..
(Pam Bilyeu here) someone needs a ‘she shed’ …potting shed or greenhouse!!
Hey Becky, I have that pressure canner and I love it!! It's so easy.
Watch RoseRed Homestead. She has videos on how to use it. She does the Carey canner also. You will like her. I love how you get so excited about your passion.
The Holy Basil makes a very comforting tea. Lots of great healing properties.
that electric canner looks great! do you have an easy recipe for rye bread? I like this rustic bread but hubby would like a rye Tx
Make sure you don't use house water if you have a WATER SOFTNER. Use bottled water. Sodium is in softener water
Love Jess from Roots & Refuge. Very good and inspiring source! Your tomato plants looked a little leggy like they were reaching for light. I start my tomatoes in solo cups to start with so I don’t have to mess with up potting. When I plant them in the garden, I bury them deep.
Would love to see a tutorial on the new pressure canner!!
Loved this video so much.
Please share your nail color with me? I love it.
I am so excited the electric pressure canner is finally USDA approved!! It’s only approved for low acid food which kind of sucks but it’s better than not approved at all!
Thanks Becky!
You should do ur planting outside less mess n kitchen save a step of clean up and not near foods or counters
Becky I don’t read very well either.
I don’t process information reading it. I’d rather listen to you tube vs read. Your not a lone only difference is I did not have internet till I was 35 or 36 and did not find out about YouTube till I was around 50 or so and I’m 58. Sure wish I’d had YouTube when I was your age because it would have made my life easier. My brain does not process things very well reading but hands on or videos I learn more because I can rewatch over and over.
Your doing great. So full of energy.
Have you freeze dried any of your chicken broth before? If you have not you need to try it it. It’s s awesome I just let my chicken broth sit in the fridge so the fat comes to the top and skim it off and freeze dried the rest and oh my gosh game changer and takes up a lot less space than canning
Hello Friend, Check out RoseRed Homestead on testing the presto canner. There was 1 item that she found that the canner did not keep the tempature up for long enough. I think it was spagetti sauce with meat, but not 100% sure. They followed the USDA guidelines, but it is not approved. That is why she did testing with it and the electric NESCO and the The instant pot Max that has the canning feature built in. Love my electric canner.
Hey Becky, loving watching all your videos, have made quite a few of you recipes and they have been a hit with my family! I’ve just started my “autumn” seeds (live in Australia) am very excited to see if any of them sprout and make it to harvest, I do however wonder if you wear a mask while working with the soil, I’m super paranoid about legionnaires disease and always wear a mask, goggles and gloves when working with potting mix. Please be careful x
