VIDEO: I Grew "GIANT" Eggplants From eBay To See How Big They Really Would Grow

In this video, I show you how I grew GIANT eggplants at home from seed in my garden that I purchased from eBay to see how big they would grow and if they were good to eat.

  1. Thanks for all the info about growing eggplants, giant or not! Total rookie here, but I'm going all in with FOUR kinds of eggplant and will be starting the seeds soon. Fingers crossed 🙂

  2. Mark, I have been a viewer for 2 years and love your channel. I wonder if you could publish plans for your open and airy pantry and kitchen? I love the 2 burner propane stove and the table top type pantry…unique. Thanks. 🙂

  3. Extremely interesting. Not a big eggplant fan due to the potential for being bitter and fibrous. Surprising the large one was nice to eat. I would have bet money that one was only good for seed. I do cook with them but I mostly use them for a filler in curries or sometimes for a lasagna. They work great to thicken a curry and tend to absorb the flavor. You did get some nice sized eggplant and lot of the time what you get are a lot of smaller ones so I;m glad you are saving the seed. Not giants but respectable fruits. As always a great video.

  4. Hey Mark, over the years you have had a consistent look and feel. One of these days you should just surprise everyone with a wild hair style and clothes. LOL

  5. Hi, Mark. You're my new discovery here on Youtube and I cannot wait to watch all of your videos. I was wondering, do you have a video/are you planning to make one regarding the general climate in your area? I think you are not living in a 4-season climate with snow, etc., so I am just interested how you do things in a more uniform weather year. Can you grow fruits and vegetables all year round?

  6. Thanks for the video, maybe it works better when you want the bigger ones that you let 1 or 2 flowers/fruits grow. Just like you do with the giant pumpkins?

  7. That low seedling table you use is a killer for your back, that's exactly the angle at which my back freezes and gives me he'll. If it's not the height of your lower sturnam than you may run into back issues!

  8. Very nice to watch again thank you! My family enjoyed learning what to spend our money on re seeds… Our eggplants haven't fruited this year coz of how much rain / shade they've experienced (in Adelaide hills)… hopefully next season!

  9. QUESTION – if you cut off some of the other eggplants ("fruit"?) just after they started growing, could you make fewer bigger ones? With pumpkins, you can pinch off the smaller ones so all the nutrients goes into one big one
