Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm
Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.
There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

The truth of the matter is I would much, much, much rather watch and spend my time with the hard working homestead community than spend time with the so called "reality TV"( which has nothing to do with the real world) or with a team of way over paid athletes. I love seeing how you keep moving forward, raise your children and support a substantial , more self-sufficient type of life style. God bless you and your family. Keep growing and I'll keep watching.
Do your potege have any plans for water features like bird baths or toad puddles?
I love you and your husband.so awesome
Thank you! I so much enjoy watching you and your family building this new home. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
You are welcome. Thank you for sharing your joy!
Great video! I laughed so hard at Jerimiah's story, being military myself, funny story and hearing him moan and groan as he tries to get down. Getting old aint easy lol
you guys the changes the new adventures your showing up here and sharing it all with us thank you
I’m so excited to be seeing your garden begin at the homestead! One day I will have one as well! I’m in my classroom!
Love you Jess!
The phrase “Sowards-dough bread” ran through my head at the start of this video. The greenhouse looks incredible, can’t wait to see it surrounded with all the beautiful gardens you have planned!
I just went to say thank you for following the leading. This touched my heart in so many ways. So much emotion, truly spoke straight to the depths of my heart.
Since up your water line is on the north side of your green house, you could install some type of water feature with your climbing rose idea. It could be a small water fountain, mini pond, etc. with perennial flowers and plants around it. This could be a beautiful and peaceful place with the sound of moving water. This could be a meditation garden!
We are in zone4 here in MN. Looking forward to tackling and growing what we can this year.
In the city on near a half acre. Sadly can not have chickens or farm animals but no restrictions on gardens. So that is what we plan to do as much as we can where we have sunny areas.
That greenhouse is nice.

Didn't see your second video about your choice of tomatoes to grow this season ,Unless you didn't have the tomato talk as you do have a huge amount of types of tomatoes to judge from which because they don't always peak at the same time of the year.
I'm planting 33 types of tomatoes and guess my picks will just be fine, But it's what I have to go with so wish me luck on my own selection.
Seems weird your tomatoes are smaller than mine now over 6 inches, But I started about a month ago. Here I zone 6
