HA! A green bean plant. Now that's funny! I just bought a bag of beans for less than that plant.
A lot of our local FFA chapters and schools out on plant sales at this time of the year for plants they’re growing in-house. I’m happy to support them for their cause and they’re usually much cheaper than the bigger box store places.
T.H.I.S.
Hi you two, ☺ 21% inflation. Why else would congress give Themselves a 21%raise , not 7.9% what a Joke they are….
So here is a trick I just learned. If you buy plants, at a nursery or big box store – look for pots with more than one plant in them. They always over seed the pot to make sure one grows and sometimes you might just get a "bonus' plant. It becomes a two for one instead.
I think inflation is closer to 20% It is going up it seems on a weekly basis. And our Governor DeSatan , (who is a millionaire)is Not raising our snap to assist with the cost of Food ,so gardens will be our only salvation for those of us who are able…. Last I checked Rural King is out of canning jars. That has also been a problem for us every where.
I was plant shopping last Thursday. Other than the high prices I noticed each pot only contained one plant, where in years past pots always had 2-3 plants. It seems the nurseries are being extra careful with their seeds?
I agree! no such things as a six pack anymore
The Bonnie plants were $3 or $4, four years ago when I started gardening. After 2 years I found a local Amish family that sold them for 75 cents each. Trying growing from seed this year except for tomato, peppers and cabbage.
Walmart in Idaho is selling cheap seeds for 50 cents/pack. Check with your local store, if you're comfortable with cheapo seeds.
Funny when you looked to James for a response…. lol.
I've been buying heirloom seeds every year and putting them away for a decade. I plant the oldest ones. They grow. Havent harvested seeds yet but bought a book on it…lol. be nice..
Lmao people haven't been rewarded for not working here in Texas for a long time. That's not the labor shortage issue, lady!
eggs are going up now
Those prices will get higher,
US will get hyperinflation.
With prices so high, I look for more than one plants in the pots.
With drought starting to get worse in Texas, it's scary to think about that shortage, on top of everything else!
personally when I plant my seeds I plant on plant for every vegetable that I grow for just seed saving. So if for example if your planting 10 tomatoes plant 11 and save the 1 extra for seed saving
I love spaghetti squash, so I saved all the seeds to regrow for us and others who may like this type of squash.
Its ridiculous! The plant prices at tractor supply are 4.78 ea and die soon after.
Carrot seeds. The carrot needs to stay in the dirt over winter. Next season the carrot will flower. Let flowers dry up. Tons of seeds in dried flowers.
Yes I paid $3.49 in texas at home depot for 1 sweet banana pepper plant… Walmart has deep freezers pretty cheap right now so I bought one. Paid $350.00.
Get ready people..
Never grew tomatillo before and saw some… put them in the buggy and yep, $4 each!! Didn't even realize until I looked at the receipt!! Nutso
Love that seed book. It has helped me learn how to save seeds for almost everything.
