Can it be frozen?
I cannot eat any canned soups because of the msg. I had horrible migraines until I was in my 30's because msg is added to almost all packaged food. I was forced to learn to make my own foods. I have make cream of mushroom, but I have not attempted the cream of chicken. Cannot wait to try this!
I always make homemade! In a pinch you can even make it in the microwave: just zap the liquid until hot it in a pyrex measuring cup or bowl, and while it's heating knead the butter and flour together. Whisk the butter-flour paste into the hot liquid until no lumps, then return to microwave until mixture bubbles. Stir frequently and return to boil until desired thickness. Takes less than 5 minutes.
Not a supporter of MSG, it gives me raging migraines, however, I wanted to point out that MSG is naturally occurring in anything made with chicken… Tomatoes and Cheese are also high in natural MSG… As are most protein based foods including beef, salmon, mackerel, scallops, crab, and shrimp. I was told by my doctor that manufacturers of processed foods, such as Cream of Chicken soup, that they are, by law, supposed to include MSG on the label if any of the products in the item contain MSG naturally occurring. I have not researched this out myself to see if this is correct or not, but it could be why MSG is listed in two different forms on the label.
Love your videos! I am so glad you made these I have been wanting to learn how to make cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup for a while! You are amazing!
Love, love, love your videos and I’ve become an avid fan!
1.98! Holy hell you are being robbed!!
Wow! I didn't realize that would be so easy. Thanks Becky.
Great tutorial. Just curious, why can't you can these soups? You're buying them canned!
Does the finished product serve as soup, as is? Or is the finished product the same as the condensed soup from the can (where you then need to add a can of milk or water to it, to make it soup). If the finished product is the condensed stuff, how much liquid do we need to add to make it a soup?
Happy Easter Becky … Thanks for sharing these recipes with us!
What is the official name of that canning jar lid pry-er? My brain just wants to call it a can opener but no way looking up that would get me the tool I want lol
Thanks, Becky. I've been meaning to figure out how to make cream of mushroom soup from scratch. It's how i roll, too. One suggestion for the holidays: I'd love you to tackle a scratch version of the traditional green beans with dehydrated onions in cream of mushroom soup casserole.
With Celiac disease I have to make my cream soups from scratch. More work, for sure…but…they taste so much better!
i never put flour in soup i always add potatoes and an onion and use that as a thickener yesterday i made celery and tomato soup with onion and potato and i always use a chicken stock cube with vegetable soup a veggie one can be too salty.x
I do a dry mix & vacuum seal it. I like your way too.
Hello Becky, can you share the link to you thick silver hoop earrings? Also for your apron? Please
Happy Easter to you and your whole family
Your soups look beautiful and so yummy! I've always made the dry soup mix, but now….I may have to convert over to this recipe!!!!!! I believe this would would work well with dehydrated mushrooms as well.
I would think you could freeze dry these soups to make them a powder and shelf stable just like you can buy powdered buttermilk in a can.
I was watching this one video and a couple had a unit that would suck all the air out of something you can and the now heat o wonder if that would let can it
Hi Becky!
I loved this video. Could you freeze these soups?
Thank you for teaching us how to do this.
Since I am allergic to dairy, and msg is not my friend, I am too thrilled that you’ve done this video, mentioning using non-dairy milk. I’ll be watching this one another time or two. Mmm!
Once made what is the best way to store it/how long does it last?
Thank you!
