I use wood ants to fight of pests
Clever. Thank you.
Thanks Huw! Just spotted slug damage on transplanted dwarf beans in my poly tunnel so will try the last method you mentioned now!
great tips, I leave trimmed veg leaves or weeds to wilt on the paths cos slugs and snails prefer wilted stuff more. I once put some leafy greens, can't remember in the compost bin, so much it was bursting. I came back at sun down as I forgot something at the allotment, it was drizzling and there were dozens and dozens of slugs crawling , slithering? dunno moving up the sides of my compost bin, it was an invasion never seen so many together.. ALso don't remove snails as they eat the eggs of slugs helping you as well, I find the slugs do the most damage and remember only 5% is out on the surface the rest you don't even see
The board when placed over a newly seeded row also helps retain some of the days heat so seeds sprout quickly.
Can you do a video on weed control? Especially on how to keep weeds out of compost. I love your channel! Thanks for all your help.
Genius!!!!!!
Please add the captured pesky slugs to your compost bin. Helps break down your compost ingredients…. Heading towards usable compost in shorter time
Brilliant!
I’m I right in thinking to water in the morning and not in the evening to deter slugs?
really helpful, thank you
In their book, The Good Life, Scott and Helen Nearing speak of having a slug problem in their garden. They solved it by going out early in the morning to pick them up as they move from the garden to the leaf mulch nearby where they spent the day. Someone else ( I forget who) said if you have problems with slugs, you don't have a slug infestation, you have a duck shortage.
When harvesting rhubarb, also use the leaves to trap slugs as you do with planks.
Thanks as always for tips and advice!
P.S. Love the haircut!
Great vídeo! Absolutely loved to learn this approach that the problem is the solution!!! It really is in this case!
Great affective method Huw
Very nice vidio sir
This is the first great advice to control slugs. This makes sense to me. I will try it tomorrow imedieately.
I use egg cartons to catch slugs. I remove the lid and simply turn the carton upside down and tuck them in among the seedlings/plants. It works amazingly well for me.
1:30 wow that seems really deep to plant those seeds. Am i thinking wrong all this time?!
Your garden is impressive! I am so happy to find your channel! Your videos are visually appealing and informative. I’m gardening for my 3rd year and I am so thankful to learn from knowledgeable YouTube gardeners like you. Thank you for sharing your passion, tips and tricks. I have started making garden update videos on my channel. I just need to perfect filming it’s very challenging in the bright sun. Plus I get dirt all over the place!! I hope we can learn more from each other and that we both have fantastic harvests!
Have you ever had any luck with Three Sisters planting?
Well , i don't have slugs problems. But i use this method for carrots etc with cardboard and it works so perfectly!
