VIDEO: An UDDER Fiasco (Miah's dreams unfold) | VLOG

Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm

Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.

There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

  1. If you weren't learning too, you wouldn't be relatable. Your learning moments help me remember that it doesn't have to be perfect to be good and worthwhile. Btw, best sign off yet! Get the man a chuckwagon!

  2. I steep oregano tea from dried oregano when I have any type of cold or sore throat…ad honey…. It is very soothing and I know oregano is a great anti-infective.

  3. I'm a 65 year old woman, have spent many years living in many places thanks to the Marine Corps.
Have always loved gardening and had tried to have something growing at all times.
You have ignited that fire in me again. ❣
Y'all always make me smile! God bless you!!

  4. I have been around cattle an alot of bulls, normal size bulls can jump a 5 to 5 1/2 foot fence standing still. Not sure about a devon, i understand they are a shorter breed. Dont worry about your mistakes, if you dont know just ask someone you trust. Lots of different talents on here that would be glad to help as would whoever u buy from also.

  5. Have you ever watched Cowboy Kent Rollins? He lives in Oklahoma and has a chuckwagon. He is a great chef as well. Love your video and don't worry about the ones who feel they have to say negative things.
My uncle had a horse who used to turn the electric fence off with his tail and get out to run all over the place until one of his neighbors called him to let him know Shadow had escaped again. He had that aluminum wire around Shadows pen and that hurts when it zaps you. Alls good as long as you learned from your mistakes. Take care and Blessings!

  6. I was always telling my kids to think it through while they were growing up. Anyone could have have the same mistake. By the way that is some nice looking horse but. I bless you too.

  7. 8:23 You need to add a nostalgia warning. You know, kinda like a trigger warning…but for…well, the opposite of trauma-inducing. One time when I was a very little girl, the BIG news locally was that Fred Mansker had gotten a milking machine. Fred and May Mansker were the farm next to us – a wonderful older couple – and I walk over with Daddy to have a look. I thought that was sure a weird looking thing. Looked like a big ol' tea kettle. And I was fascinated by how it worked. Hadn't seen one in all these decades and, bam, there it is. I think it is SO neat that anyone is making those (again? still?) and that you're using one! Also, Miah's comments about the cows were hilarious. LOL

  8. rakeless? really cows you wanted breed when you wanted breed were breed by the wrong bull but it wasn't like oops someone got there mom or sister pregnant at the worst time of year. but even the stuff happens rakeless is absolutely off base. poor planning made a mistake. but that might be a nice combo

  9. Sorry Jess but I had to go back twice to watch you touch the electric fence and both times I laughed! I do "feel" for you as we lived on a working farm for 7 years with electric fencing and I can only say…it wasn't my best friend!!!! I love that Miah is udderly a one cow and daughter man. <3
