VIDEO: Worldwide Community Garden Bed – Project Phase 3

Worldwide Community Garden Bed Phase 3! The joint venture where you guys pick the crop and I do all the work! We harvested Peas and Radishes in the last video, and kept the momentum going by planting even more crops!

Our job today will be to harvest all the remaining plants and clear the bed completely because its finally time to plant the Brussels Sprouts!

You Picked The Plant(s), And I Got To Work! Welcome to the Worldwide Community Garden Bed Project. An idea we had where I took a 2×8 raised garden bed and gave you guys all the details and parameters and you picked the crop to plant.

The response was amazing and within 24 hours I knew what you guys wanted to see. Sort of. Time of year means everything in gardening so we had to make some adjustments on the fly, LOL! As it turns out, this project just ballooned in size to a scope bigger than we imagined…

And that’s awesome! We’re going to hopefully be able to demonstrate so many gardening practices such as:

– Bred Preparation
– Weeding
– No-Till Practices
– Direct Seeding
– Thinning
– Trellising
– Companion Planting
– Pollination
– Succession Gardening
– Spacing
– Seed Starting
– Transplanting

So instead of a one-off crop, as cool as that would be, we now have this massive vehicle in which to display nearly everything we know about the backyard growing of vegetables. Amazing!

  2. Great video Jeff! We gave our dog sprouts once. Definitely one way to clear a room! lol

What variety are the sprouts and when do you expect to harvest them? We sowed our Brodie F1 in Mar and expect to harvest in Oct- Feb. Is it because of the variety you are growing or where you live that determines when to plant them?

We are growing them for the first time and have some issues with white fly and caterpillars but have managed to keep them alive using the washing up liquid, oil and water spray. The sprouts are coming along now and starting to size up. Should i add some more blood, fish and bone now? Also, if i were to sow them this time of year instead of at the beginning of the year, do they grow quicker? I understand that they will get less pest pressure this time of year but i was more wondering if i could have planted something else there during summer instead, if they grow better and quicker later on in the season?

I heard about topping off the heads. I am in Zone 9 in London, UK. Should i do that or can i let them carry on growing more sprouts?

  3. How do you break down your plants. All I have is clippers, but if you have some other tool, I'd love to see it. Also, Jeff, I love your videos, but you always make it look so easy. Is there a possibility that you could do a video on garden failures. I'd love something uplifting even though you're talking about failures. I've had a lot of challenges in the garden this year mostly due to drought and unpredictable and unusual heat waves and I keep telling myself, there's always next year.

  4. hi Jeff. rather than leave you a comment that's not relevant to this video, can I ask, is there a way I can contact you for a little bit of advice on something? thank you

  5. Warning ⚠️ !!!!!!!!!! DO NOT register your community garden
to" People's Garden" they are attacking Amish but said register your garden STOP u want see on news the Amish are private…Amish are going to court over this…" community gardens " shut down!!!!

  6. Jeff, I’m 73, watch your videos, and devour all the info I can. I don’t know about making videos, the time involved, nor any monetary value coming back to you(if any). But the value of assistance you give to fellow gardeners can’t be measured. Props to you. Don’t retire just yet.

  7. Great update Jeff, sorry been a bit but I have been busy harvesting and processing. For the fall spouts if you process try frog balls. They are awesome did with spring plants hoping fall will do the same.
