  1. Our government in New Zealand decided that we needed competition in the supermarket business, so they got Costco into our biggest city Auckland. Never mind the fact that regulation had set up the duopoly in the first place. Costco opened and all it affected was the closest Pak`n`Save. It is an Island and another 800km`s away from us so won`t do much.

  2. I went to our local Mom & Pop grocery store for sale items. Block cheese 8oz $1.88 (got 6 plus one shredded); creamer 32oz $3.99; Campbell's soups, $1.25 (I got the typical cream soups for holiday cooking); store brand pumpkin $1.29, got 4; and Chex cereal 2/$6, got 4. Honeycrisp apples $1.39. Wimmers natural casing wieners coarse ground $5.49 and had a 55¢ off coupon so for 2. According to the receipt I saved $50.66 in discounts, spent $58.43. For 25 items. I guess $2.00+ isn't terrible and I'm stocked up for the holidays. In Nebraska

  3. Thanks for taking us with you. We use to have a Sams membership. Too far to travel for too little savings in our case. That was 5 years ago and we didn't renew. Buying local now more than ever.

  4. I've had a membership for 25 years to Costco. I worked for them for 15 of those years. I lived in Florida up until 2019 when I moved to East Tennessee. I dont plan on renewing membership this year. I shopped a couple times last year and it's not with it for me when I can order bulk meat from a place close to home and between kroger, Food City, grocery outlet I shop the sales for my monthly menus!! I do have a Sams membership and find for the bulk items I do get a better price!!

  5. The same amount of Himilayan salt in Australia would be 20-30 dollars
The same nice jacket for 40 something would be 150.00+ here
Our rice is 20.00 mostly for 5Kg
Spam is 5-7 a can the same size.
    Beans are 2.00+ per TIN
Oils are 20-30 per 2Ltrs a bottle that looks shy of a gallon in USA.

  6. Same here in Costco in Pooler Ga, we are not going to renew our membership , just not worth it , we can get better deals on staple items from other grocery stores when we shop local sales .

  7. Hendersonville, NC,: roast beef slices $8.70-$10.87 , $12.50 over 4 trips, cat food cans no longer stocked, $50 pound bags of rice gone, now only 25 lbs bags. Canned Grapefruit is gone also. I'll see more on my next trip for sure.

  8. Sometimes I prefer to go to the URM or restaurant supply store. Prices cheaper on bulk sugar, flour, yeast, rice and beans also canned goods in the number 10 cans. I sometimes buy the diced tomatoes and corn and make large batches on homemade canned salsa

  9. I agree 100% and noticed months ago already here in Minneapolis MN. Back in February when I started to build my extra pantry, I found that most of the bulk food items I was purchasing were cheaper elsewhere. I have gotten only a few of my pantry items from Costco. That being said, I have been able to get some other needed items at huge savings. A new split king mattress with adjustable base for 1/4 the price of Sleep Number. Really nice great quality sheet sets for $12. Needed trees for my yard for $30. Fila sneakers for work $22. So, food seem high…everything else is still a bargain.
