Ho Jeff, good to see another video on dormancy. I planted garlic 3 weeks ago and today I noticed it´s sprouting! I´m in NW Europe and it´s still unusually warm (around 18 degrees Celsius). What should I do?
Can you use mung beans as a cover crop?
I decided to try out red clover as cover this winter because it's nitrogen fixing.
Peanut husks can also be used as cover.

I grow quick growing plants just4 mulch..
If I had a lot of squash bugs in the winter squash patch wouldn’t it be better to clear the soil of mulch and debris so the bugs can’t overwinter?

I have a bag on my lawnmower that I mulch the grass and leaves together every fall and cover my beds with it. Use just leaves in the bottom of my pots before adding the soil. Leaves are great. And I use fresh grass clippings as a mulch in the spring. All free and organic.
Lol. Uncovered soil grows just fine.

Spot on that Jeff. I've done all 3, cardboard, green manure and brassicas all on different beds so hopefully a bit of each will see my garden through. I'm about to move from Florida (where it is still in the 80s) to North Carolina (where it's getting pretty cold) and I'm taking my babies. My plants are still flowering and growing. Some are dying off.. do you have any advice on how to allow them to "go to sleep" naturally and come back in the spring?
My over-wintering method: top up with compost and cover with straw mulch
No snow coming for me in zone 10, but i still watch all your videos. Always enjoyable!
