This is an update of the peas we planted about two weeks ago. We had a lot of questions about weeds and weed seeds in our garden. We mulch using hay and grass clippings as well as other materials and don’t have problems with weeds. We constantly add mulch and we haven’t tilled since 2012.

Awesome tip Mrs. Lea. Hay works like a charm no doubt. That bed looks so amazing! Have a great day!
Nice update Lea! This is a case where less is more. I really do appreciate your thoughtful approach to you backyard homestead and the fact that you share what you learn!!!
It really shows where the mulch of hay is doing its job, looks great!
Looks great !! How is your pond doing ?
Awesome!
Hello again from Lumberton. My green beans did the same thing. I would get some blooms, maybe a few baby green beans, and then nothing. My neighbor’s green beans did this as well. So what’s up with the green beans? Is it weather related, disease, or bad seeds?
Lovely garden. I’m going to plant turnip greens soon. I’ll be covering the seeds with hay myself. You have a wonderful garden.
What the Hay? No grass to speak of right there. Y'all do a great job
Thanks for sharing, Lea. Your beans looks amazing. Yes mulching is great. I mulch with grass cuttings. Enjoy your weekend.
Mulch, any mulch, is extremely helpful in keeping weeds down, conserving moisture, and finishing the look of a space. Organic mulches have the added benefit of improving the soil. You are showing this so well.
I JUST starting heavily mulching this year. The weeds keep winning the good fight
thank you I need all the help I can get, I have a terrible weed problem.
