Plastic Forests: This is the company that makes the plastic sheeting in rolls used to make our chicken compost ring https://plasticforests.com.au/ I believe the key to solving our plastic problem is to make recycling all types of plastic easy for everyone and attractive for businesses. Plastic Forests have pioneered eco-friendly ways to recycle soft plastics once thought to be impossible to do – that is the kind of technology and small business ingenuity I love to see!

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

That is so clever. I never would of thought to do that. Thank you so much and best regards all the way from UAE.
Mark Where did you get the netting Bunnings or where??? Mark you rock
A brilliant idea – the hot house in a raised garden bed.
Mark, what a great tutorial! I had tried a similar method but yours is way easier. I had used the fabric row cover and loosely attached it, but with our Santa Ana wi do it eventually shredded. I’m going to try rebar and the pep pipe I had used last year since I already have it. I’ll look around for those clamps as those would work as well on my wood raised beds. I’d like to grow some lettuces/winter crops in our high desert zone 8b southeRn California.
I live in Arkansas, USA which is a different climate than where you live. My wife has been wanting a small greenhouse and this is perfect for what she wants. Thank you so much!
I’m sooo thankful for this video
great!!!!
Best idea I've seen yet. THANKS!
Thankyou, i really needed thks info.
Thank you so much for these easy tips on extending crop growing season. I love your shows and will stay tuned. I learn so much here. #Keepupthegreatwork #Thankyoufortheinformation
Gosh Mark, great content. Thanks.
Dude. Cut off all pollinators
Awesome! I could grow year round with these suggestions!
Great ideas here! I'm going to use the bird netting on my beds this year, see if it deters the squirrels. They are SO destructive.
I love your videos and I would like to make the planting beds that you have. Do you have a video on that? With much appreciation.
Fantastic as always
Hi Mark
Have you ever tried growing your own bamboo stakes?
Given it a BIG Thumb's up, Mark. Great work again! Do you have any advice on keeping insects out. I've just purchased some Veggie Net, finest netting, and wondering how to secure around the base so that nothing can crawl in. Thanks in advance. Newbie, Gina.
Excellent demonstration! Thank you.
Hi again Mark
Can you please tell me where you buy your 4m x 4m black bird netting for $8 from?
I'm in Qld also.
Thanks.
