VIDEO: Florida Biochar Facility with Ken Morrison

Get a guided tour of the new Florida Biochar Facility with site manager, Ken Morrison. Learn how the innovative process works and the stages biomass goes through to become activated charcoal and eventually biochar. The added continuous feed system makes this especially efficient for adding biochar to revitalize life in soil on large farms/ranches.

  1. Congrats to Living Web Farms, Bob Wells, and Jon Nilsson for this new facility!
Bob Wells the 10lb Turnip king, (see my presentation slides below), Jon the king of char field trials with Virginia Tech;  8th year, 40 to 50% increase in yield, and fruit quality with just 5% "CharGrow" placed in the growing medium of tomato starts.

  2. What is the best way to use Biochar? In a home garden situation. Do I need to mix it into the soil? Or do I just spread it on top. How deep if you mix it in. Has the Biochar reacted with the sand like it has in Bolivia in the Terra Preta?

  3. how long is the burn time for the batch machine and the continuous machine? how many hours or minutes take from raw biomass to pure biochar? how much cost to purchase each of these machines? can either of these machines be made to be mobile (portable) such as on a trailer pull by a truck? look forward to hear from you soon.
