Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark ๐
G'day Everyone! I'm back! Sorry for being awol for so long but I guess the video explains why… Thank you for sticking with me and all the best with your growing – get into it! Cheers, Mark ๐
Watching in 2021…Holidays are done for everyone.
They didnโt think to water for you… hmmm
Mom's amazing. Perhaps without her watering the garden would have fared worse.
Looking at the wilting vegetables and thinking โIโd still eat itโ
Ya know, you just need to take a break once in awhile.
you make me laugh ๐
I enjoy your videos so much…
OMG ! A 5 week vacation ? We are doing well if we get a week.
Thankyou so much fir sharing!.. I admire your videos, even I only live in a small flat in the city!.,is wonderful to feel that respect and passion for nature!!
The first thing to remember about the weather: If it can screw you over, it will. If you want to break a drought, do any of the following…
1 Wash your car.
2 Leave the windows open or top down on that new car.
3 Plan any outdoor event.
If you really break your back to make a huge garden, all of nature will conspire against you whether it's vermin, drought, or flooding.

Aussie is far away as can be from the UK and yet Aussies and English have more in common than any other country it's mad ain't it.
Omg you hurt my heart watching the plants
I am so happy you came back and working on things
I know it sucks for you but this is good education for us
Learning how to deal with this issue as well as what we shouldn't do or let happen learning experience for all. Thank you. Sorry
How do you manage pests? Most of these veggies I've tried to grow got DEMOLISHED by aphids, cabbage moths and slugs.

Can I grow everything you grow Mark, it's subtropical here, scalding hot summers and cool winters
Dude, love your channel. Swede pronounced sweed (like, weeds in the garden, but an s at the beginning)! ๐
Nice7
You shouldn't need to tell your sons to water. They should know it by now. Its common sense if it hadn't rained in over a day and the sun was out.
5 week vaca, what a legend
Such a great video! Thank-you
2:35 how cute is that!
I love this channel
Your comment on the figs growing so well in Croatia helped me to really understand the phrase, "Look, and see the Earth through Her eyes." Wonderful!
