SO i have terrible luck with hoses… how do you prevent them from bursting? I bought some really nice ones and they still seemed to explode eventually. Very cool though.

I have found it best to use threaded valves when building manifolds. Easy to unscrew the valve and replace it without cutting and glueing.
dittos to what John said about painting any exposed PVC
also if your making a Manifold like this instead of a elbow at the valve put in a Tee fitting with a threaded end cap and threaded plug for future expansion or Mods

What model timers are those Orbit timers?
I am actually working on something similar to this with a Raspberry pi zero w , a relay board and normal sprinkler relays. I have everything working using a freeware program called "sprinklers_pi" that allows me to control the sprinklers via internet or local WiFi. it also allows you to set timers according to season or weather. I think this would be an awesome addition to what you are doing adding more remote access to your irrigation.
instead of an elbow on the last port, that you use another tee to a 3" and a cap on the end, so you can add on if needed.
I'll probably do something like that before long, I've already graduated to a store bought "4" hose manifold..:-)
Space them far enough apart so you can screw on your valves and they will not hit each-other
I get in the irrigation aisle and get so intimidated by all the timers. I have no idea what I need to hook them all up and make the timers work. I think I'm a little closer to understanding it now, but not totally sure yet. Hopefully I can buy something next time I'm at Home Depot and not just run scared out of the store.

If you heat the end of the poly before putting it on the fitting it not only makes it easier to go on but it also shrinks slightly when it cools to make a better fit.
Also I would think of putting a screw on valve so that you can replace it (or replace the gaskets) in case you need to without having to take out everything appart.
Curtis, Have you ever had the issue of the PVC glue kinda wearing out over the winter. I will drain out my PVC manifold for the winter and then come back the next spring and reconnect. And Dang it, if the connections don't start twisting in my hands and fall off their pipe, drip when on… etc. Frustrating. Just wondering if you have run into this and if you have a trick for it?
only thing I would do differently, is paint the manifold for 2 reasons, 1 to make it look nicer and blend in so it's less noticeable, 2 to help add 1 additional layer of protection from the elements.

First off, thanks for the videos. You are doing a great service here. Not only are you passing knowledge to people already farming but you are inspiring and motivating people that have not started yet. Even if they never do grow anything at least they know what it takes. It gives you more appreciation for where your food comes from. Second, If you ever have to replace this one or build a second, look into PEX. More UV resistant, wont bust if it freezes, and can be more compact it you want. You have to buy a PEX clamping tool, you can get a good one for $70 at HD. You can also use that tool for splicing your poly lines.
Why not use just one timer I mean you already did all the work just get an electric timer and valves and you can control all your valves with one timer. Makes your life a lot easier
