These are the best raised garden beds for growing veggies. These raised garden beds are great for older people, those with disabilities, or younger people wanting a fun and easier way to grow your own food. In this video, I also share some exciting news about these types of culvert-style garden beds becoming available in the USA!

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
Will be buying several for next years improvements.
Also can we just take a moment to marvel at this dude's forearms? Freaking tree trunks from the elbow down.
You should be a Birdies Rep … See if they would sponsor you … Might get your whole garden raised for less cost … Lots of USA viewers like me that garden … Too bad they don't make a bed with a bottom for the porch gardeners …
I wonder if they ever made the supply of raised beds available to the US?
How about Canada?
Those steel beds still aren’t cheap though. My wooden bed was made from scrap material and now just needs a few repairs almost 10 years later.
I checked the US supplier and they're prohibitively expensive here. Over $800 each with shipping.
Can someone tell me if these are easy to take apart and move? I live in a rental with a large chuck of land but I need to be able to move them at anytime when we decide to move
What height do you recommend? In Canada, we have this company:
https://raisedgardenbeds.ca/collections/all
They sell in height choices of 12" 22" 30" 36"
Need a birdies here in the USA!
However, we have fire ants and moles.
Do you do a video on self watering large raised beds and do you stll recommend this self watering method
i have always had an eye on grow your own stuff but i have never taken the chance. but now we are all on lock down and food is harder to come by i think now is the time.
i have two raised beds on order and will fill the bottom half with dead wood and garden/kitchen scraps. topping up with store brought compost i will then try to grow something, anything and see what happens.
your channel here is a huge part of my choice to take these steps so for what its worth: thanks.
What is the height of the rectangular and the circular beds? I think I found a place here in the US who makes?.
How dimensions are your rectangular raised bed?
I just pre-ordered my first Birdies raised bed from Kevin’s Epic Gardening store! I’ve been wanting one for 2 years and I finally managed to get one; I’m super excited and can’t wait until it gets here in August! Thanks for bringing Birdies to America Mark!
I'm sure they are the best but i can't even afford one of them. They are crazy expensive
I just assembled my first 2 birdie beds. Filling them today. I got the shorter ones though.
Hi Mark
Just went back over this video and I noticed you had a rectangular metal bed too. Is this a Birdies brand as well and have you noticed any difference in strength & longevity between the curved cornered ones versus the square cornered ones?
Will appreciate your feedback.
Following your channel for a while now, looked into the option of buying your type of raised beds half a year ago. Very nice material but if you fill your garden with these birdies, you should arrange a loan… quite expensive if you ask me
On the birdies site the beds look pretty close to the ground, I want wait height beds
Do they do a 3m x 1mx 1m? I need 5 in early March also how much please?
I have been trying to find these beds in India from long time with no luck
Thank you for not only a fabulous video, but I also thank you for sharing the songs and video footage of your local birds.
You should do commercials, you' re a good salesman. I am sold on these beds now
Those birds have a beautiful call
Excellent breakdown, thanks!
I received my very first birdies garden bed just today! I was initially disheartened but the delayed shipping…but when it arrived all that drained away. The quality is fantastic! So much better than anything I’ve ever used in the past!
Hello Mark, I learned my gardening skills from my Mom and Dad, but I still have to resort to my expert gardening book for help from time to time. My book is a 1970 Rodales organic gardening. So where do you go for help when you need to know something else. Your very proficient in what your doing but even experts don't know it all. what is your secret I told you mine. Jessie Arkansas USA
I just received, assembled and filled my new 32” raised beds (6 in total) and cannot wait for spring
