Things happen on a homestead! I always urge you to have regular barn checks because circumstances change and emergencies happen quickly! Thank goodness my family swung into quick action yesterday. I am so proud of my boys! Knowing how to quickly respond can determine the outcome! Be sure to watch how she thanks us for sticking it out with her!Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

I have a pool and I keep something floating it in just in case one flies into it. That way they can get on it hopefully until I find them and get em out. Praying that does NOT happen though. Sure hope your hen stays safe!
Love you Patara. Thank you for loving your Chickens. You are showing people they are not things and they have personalities. My Birds are my pets. I eat the eggs but I do not eat meat. I also saved over 50+ Rabbits a neighbor dumped, I got them Spayed and neutered and found loving indoor homes. I am a vegetarian Homesteader.
Patara, you are the sweetest, most loving, most attentive farm mama on planet earth. Don't beat yourself up……you can't be with them 24/7. You are human, you have to eat and have some sleep too. My Dad always had a ramp a 2×6 with one end out of the troff so the chickens could get out.

One of my chickens lost all skin on the back of her neck and she was in the garage for 6 months but thankfully she lived
I have 3 production reds and one squeeks so we named her squeeky, and the other 2 have no name. And we have 3 RIR's that didn't get named either.

Wonderful !! Glad she's OK.. Here in East Texas we had a problem with squirrels falling into the troughs ..And old timer said to put a limb off into the water to prevent anymore (floating )squirrels .. It completely made the difference . Maybe a ladder board as a safeguard for your hens ,and if you've found a floating rat in you water troughs that will never happen again ..Blessings to you and yours
