If you're in San Diego, the nursery is called Planter Paradise! And grab a kumquat tree while you're at it: https://bit.ly/351XPDn
OK last comment I do believe I already mentioned this to you but you should just eat the whole kumquat because the sourness of the inside and the sweetness of the skin such a good combo and neither one is too intense that way. I don’t know if it’s a Japanese thing but that’s the way I grew up doing it at my grandmas house I never heard about peeling them —. That’s way too muchwork LOL
I think i need to repot mine. its 3 yrs old, in a large put and its having its second crop. Its the end of summer right now. I've been using citrus feed on it, as well as seaweed fert. The leaves are turning yellow, ive given it some magnesium, but no better.
i'm planning to garden on my south facing balcony, how much fruit do kumquats get in pots? i have seen the giant bush in your survival video but i doubt the get that big in pots. also do you need more than 1 kumquat to get fruits? they are not a common plant here.
Hello! is indoors 19-23 C ok for my plant during winter? Are indoor kumquats different than outdoor kumquats or are they all the same? I have a Nagami. Thank you!
What size tree did you get?
Some terra cotta, plastic or other pots are not food safe. Keep that in mind when choosing container for growing food.
How to grow Kumquat: Live in a privileged place where you can get all the nice stuff specific for citrus trees and get the best kind of kumquat from an expert provider, otherwise good luck?
Love your videos! I'm new to gardening and I have an outdoor kumquat planted n the garden. Has looked beautiful since August when I moved to this place (Orange County) until now. It had a ton of blooms and now it is dropping blooms. Overall it's actually not looking too good. Any ideas what's going on? I gave it some citrus fertilizer (Jack's) about a month earlier. Kumquats are my favorite and I was so hoping for an EPIC kumquat tree so I'm super bummed. Thanks for any tips from anyone reading!
For IPM dont use neem. Neem is systemic and anything you'll be consuming you don't want to use neem/neem oil on. Neem is toxic.
Hey Keven, I have a kumquat tree also from fast growing trees. I’m stuck on knowing when to water it. The soil is made for citrus, I have it in a terracotta pot. Anyway, the soil never stays wet for long and dries out pretty fast. Anyway the soil always dries out faster than the root ball. I stick my finger down about 3 inches and the soil is dry but the root ball is damp. So should I water or hold off on watering until the root ball dries out faster??
I can´t find citrus growing mix, what else could I use?
For some reason Florida won't allow them to ship it to me. Sad..
I eat them with salads and mostly fragment them into super salty kumquat. After the fresh kumquats are dried from washings. Put 1inch of salt at the bottom of a clean jar. Place the kumquat on top of the salt. And put another 1 inch salt on top of the kumquats. That’s how it’s done in traditional Chinese way. No need to add water just the salt don’t use it till after a year. It’s normal to see it turn watery, it’s because the salt sweating the juices from kumquats. It’s great for cold and sore throat. A Chinese housewife remedies. Put one salty kumquat in a 6 or 8 oz cup add little honey and thin slice of ginger (optional with the ginger) with hot water.
The Meiwa variety is sweet and favored by everyone I have shared with.

My kumquat leaves have turned a bit light green.. concerned.. repot the kumquat tree into an old wine barrel.. can anyone help me and answer why the leaves have turned lighter? Thanks.
I just wanna say, FastGrowingTrees is a great sponsor. I purchased a bunch of stuff from them and everything arrived in 3 days. FedEx damaged one of the plants and the company had a replacement at my door in 4 days. They always seem to have deals as well.
What section does those fruit require are they at section like 10 or 8 or 7 can we grow them in North Carolina
You look like Lionel Richie.
thank you
how many foot candles of grow lights would you say an indoor kumquat needs?
This is all about Mr Ego. I want info on the plant…how to make it fruit etc.
I have mine planted in a tall, glazed pot that never fully dry all the way through. It doesn't seem to be growing much so I've watered it a few times when the first few inches are dry but I'm wondering if I should repot it? It's getting 8+ hours of sun and I've fed it with citrus fertilizer a few months ago and more recently fish emulsion.
Use a portable green cover with bubble wrap insulation
