In our permaculture garden our system harvests its own; water (rain-water harvesting system), fertilizer (through nitrogen fixing microbes and dynamic nutrient accumulating plants), and its own seed. The only thing we have to do is harvest large branches throughout the yard for stakes, and harvest some of the crop for food.

Looks like you've got a plan. My borage are just starting to flower.
what do you cover the hugelculture beds with? leaf mulch?
Love your water catchment. Well done!
Thank you, and I love what you are doing at your place. Be sure to give us an update on how the electrical fence is doing, because that is something I am looking to invest in, in the future
Usually compost if we have it, or a very thin layer of wood chips. I believe that there always has to be a mulch cover, but we plant to densely in polycultures that the plants provide a living mulch layer.
I am trying to observe the landscape before I go in and mess something up lol. Yeah I really am loving the Borage's, she floweres for a good amount of time also
Hope for good weather. I already have some poles set up to give me an idea of where I want to lay out the next section, just need the weather to let me outside tomorrow ๐
Hit "Post" too quickly… Thank you for the complement about our place ๐
Yeah I hear you on that. Everything can be perfectly organized and ready to go, but the creator decides what happens when, on his time clock lol
Love to see the updates on your garden.
You go Bro!!!

Hi James!…whats a swale?
You don't have a fertilizer deficiency, You have chicken deficiency ๐
