Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
I was thinking about passion fruit for the garden when you did the tour of your garden I didn't see any grapes, passion fruit or bean vines.
I had a vine growing through a Brazilian Cherry hedge. My Australian native bees made a huge difference to the cross pollination and gave a great crop the second year. However the possums ate most of them. Any clues? A bit of trivia – the name 'passion' flower comes from the look of the flower which supposedly looks like the crown of thorns placed on Jesus' head. The flower is gorgeous, not thorn like, but it does look like something that on a bigger scale could sit on a head.

I better get some passion fruit going here. pretty cool vid. I don't have a lot of space, I wonder if the plant could grow on a fence that blocks the light from the other side. Or if this would kill a tree like a mango tree.

You need at least two plants from seeds, because passion fruit rejects autopollination.
