In this video we are planting and growing Zucchini, however the same
information applies to bush squash. It is a super productive plant, and
a great plant to grow for those who love sharing their harvest. We
discuss in this episode Watering, how to plant, spacing, starting from
seed or starts, and fertilizing.

Me: what is your favorite potato variety?
Everyone: uh… fried???
Should I be concerned if some of my squash leaves are yellow?
I noticed you don't grow vegetables in containers. Why not?
I had to move mine around after watching this because they were to close together. They were small but you think they will survive the move? Also I have bell peppers planted about two feet away. Should I move those over?
Will they grow well in a container? I have 4 plants that came up from seed. They are all in the same container
Hi love your videos…I am wondering though I thought you were supposed to plant squash in mounds? You planted ground level.
THIS IS A LECTURE!
Redo this video with your tripod
Your story is too long. Nothing to learn please
Dude buy a tripod,,, had to end video after I almost pukked my dinner out…..bye
Never used bone or blood meal and I have more zucchini than I can eat . Gives lots away too .
Hello what about watering squash bush how much water need ?? Cause it is not giving flower neither fruit just trunk getting bigger and lots of leaves and big size and higher ??
How about trimming them? I’m a new Gardner. I live your channel . Thank you
I know this is an older video, but in growing zone 8 during the middle of summer, will i need to start a second wave of summer squash seedlings going? Or will my initial plants continue to produce all summer and fall long? I am having an issue where im not really seeing any new flowering going on and so i am wondering if this initial set of plants have reached the end of their lifecycles.
Complete??? Where are the seeds?
Will you ever have long horn okra seed in stock ive been looking for some and havent had much luck.
Yes, mildew every time! Spacing – good to know… Thanks
I have very sandy soil… Whats the best way to deal with this? Will it grow in this with regular soul mixed in?
Thanks
I am against any color of zucchini that is not green. Green zucchini can be confused with cucumbers by the unwary which is a source of great mirth. Squash beetles seem to be more of a problem where I live than the borers. I never knew that it was a heavy nitrogen feeder. I use a lot of cow and horse manure but will be using chicken, rabbit, sheep and goat manure when I start keeping chickens, rabbits, sheep and goats. I already have twenty baby laying chicks but they are too young to produce much fertilizer yet. I will use their used wood chips when they become soiled. I use the pine wood chips as a covering for the bottom of their tub.
Thanks for the watering tips.
Do you have a vid for growing Zuks in pots?
Even though my squash is on a hill and the leaves don't stay wet, I always have mildew. Have you found an effective way to treat the mildew? I haven't figured out any nonharmful way that works. Thanks.
Do you have a video for growing squash vertically?
Devin sprinkled around base vine or aluminum foil wrapped around vine base around six inches high for vine voters !
Planted zucchinni and put tomato cage around them. It saved space. Hope that helps someone else.
How often should zucchini and bush squash be fed nitrogen throughout their growing season?
And thank you for being so pleasant to look at also!!
What if the squash is turning yellow when they are about 5 inches, what caused that?
I love your videos! They have helped me be successful with a variety of crops. I live in southeast Texas so weather can be extreme. I grew black beauty zucchini from seed this year and they are be! I have an unusual auto though and wondered if you might have insight. My zucchini plant has grown a massively huge fruit and the flower still hasn’t opened. Do you go ahead and harvest them when that happens or wait until it opens and gets pollinated?
