Roots grow, but do we ever stop to wonder how they know where to grow? In this episode of Levi Explains, Levi will be explaining the simple yet complex reason for how roots navigate soil.

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit ….Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad
I love this like it seems like a dumb question on the surface but it’s actually really interesting 10/10 love this series

Awesome I so live learning the science about plants. Thanks alot for doing this plus you make it fun. I love R2D2 . Keep up the good work
Very interesting indeed!
I had no idea, until you told me…lol
Yes I knew because I took plant physiology xD altought I will never forget the R2D2 or the blind scene so I can explain in simple words.
Levi, I would like to tell you that I appreciate your explanations. I feel digging transplant holes bigger around might help remove such obstacles as young plants roots grab hold to establish themselves. I would appreciate you thoughts.
Something I had never thought about. Good to know Obi-Wan! =D
Something to remember.
No clue about roots Thankyou for information
simple — God created them . He put the genetic code in to the plant.
levi do you work in the new shop
Here's one for you, worms eat a lot of different things. What keeps them from eating the roots of plants & thus killing them?
I can't believe you didn't say water one time…
Plants don't know where to grow they have no memory they react to stimuli. In all cases, water is required for this. The term is called Hydrotropism.
yes, good info. You make it very interesting . Thanks.
'Cause nothing stimulates a lull in the conversation more than… Calcium uptake and apoplastic reactive oxygen species? Ok this is why I have no friends
I never truly thought about it! But great explanation!! Truly love Levi and his talks!! Love MIgardener!!
love u Levi, ty and never stop!
I didn't know they were called RHD2, but since I have 4"-6" of loose soil on top of hard clay, I know exactly what happens to my daikon radishes. The root does not grow sideways. The top does. Makes for a bizarre looking vegetable.
Roots also follow the direction of the Van Allen Belt North (Northern Hemisphere) and South (Southern Hemisphere) electro magnetism. For large root plants, plant rows East to West so roots don't bump into each other.
I had no idea about this, it really is interesting 🙂
The theatrics are difficult, have yet to watch a full video…. He needs his own channel.
No idea
I love this site! I laugh and learn at the same time.
