I will try the 4 eggs and applesauce. I too do not add oil and water, I add melted butter and milk and I always always always add a flavoring whther it is a bit more vanilla or sometimes almond flavoring.
Thats hilarious!!! I have only heard about recipes like this one you made…..never actually saw someone make one or taste one before! But I understand a little junk food once in a while : ) (especially when you live a ways from townships) also loved the egg and applesauce tip*
This looks like a must-try for when the weather cools down. And I love that it uses 2 cups of applesauce…anything that can help me use up some of the excess in the pantry is a win. Thank you, Patera! Edit: this is in the oven right now and it smells so heavenly! I will be bringing this to a funeral at church Saturday morning and know that the folks there will love it. Thank you so much, Patera!
This is an old favorite of mi e as well, although the version I was given uses a yellow cake mix (I'll try it your way!) and has an additional step before adding the batter to the bundt pan.
If you oil the pan and then dust it with white sugar (not powdered sugar), the sugar carmelizes on the surface of the cake while it bakes. After cooling the cake, removing from the pan and cooling it some more, wrap it up in plastic wrap and let it set for several hours. It will be deliciously moist.
*I was originally told to wrap it in foil but it is harmful to us to let aluminum touch our food. The practice of using a layer of parchment paper between the food and the foil is way too hard to do with a bundt cake. Plastic wrap isn't great either but is the only other option I know of.
So trying this taking to my husband's parents for thanksgiving I actually picked up that exact cake mix cause I got it for 29 cent a box using a coupon I got 2 only had 1 coupon for 2 box's ty for sharing
I'm going to try this recipe,it sounds devin.Normally I do all scratch cakes but this is just calling my name……Lockey……Lockey. Can't wait, love your videos Patara.
I always add a can of coconut nut pecan frosting to my german chocolate cake mix, it makes the cake so moist and delicious. I think I'll try your recipe but with a spice cake mix instead.
Love this cake ! I have been making it ever since you put on it YouTube in 2014 and I am making one this morning for my neighbor and his son ( his wife passed away unexpectedly A year ago ) for Christmas. Thanks so much for the recipe and Merry Christmas from our farm here in North Alabama to you and your family.
I totally missed the mark with this cake. sad face. I used a tube pan because I don't have a bundt. It did not rise. It was "wet." I cooked it longer but it simply didn't get past a glob stage. I have no clue what happened. I'm fixin' to give it a nuther go. xo, Ant E.

My daughter loves pecan pie. She's coming up to the mountains to spend Christmas and I think I'll make this cake for her. Sounds delish!! x, E.

Looks great! Not sure we can get that cake mix here in Australia. The 4 eggs and 2 cups of applesauce, does that work for any box cake??
Thank you for this recipe. Will surely make this for the next family dinner in a couple weeks. Sounds delicious!
