Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
Do you have a job as well, or does your garden and coop sustain you financially? Thanks!
Been following your channel for a while now, and though all the infi you come with is relevant, since I'm living in a very different climate zone here in Norway, I still learn basics. And, as important, your demeanor and personality is what I really enjoy! Keep up the good work, Mr Mark, and above all, enjoy! 🙂
I am not an expert of fowl or poultry but I am pretty experience in predators, when they learn about your electric fence, and you randomly pull out a random fence that encloses an area, they usually leave that fence alone too because they tend to believe that fence is also hot with a shocking twist like the other fence… It's especially effective if you use something similar to the wires powering the enclosure for the birds… They will see that white strip woven into the portable fence and remember the last fence that they touched with that strip… That way you can have the birds locked to an area as well as have them eating the clovers… YOU just have to remember where they were last when moving that fence, AND HOPE NO SMART PREDATORS ARE WATCHING AS YOU MOVE IT…
Do you ever use your chickens for meat
Make like a portable small enclosure and let them go into it for like a few hours or a day at a time
Lmbo. Good vid…
this is the worstt way to feed a chicken ive ever seen lol
this guy helps me with anxiety, idk why.
I simply love your videos.
those are some happy chickens
What the hell kind of clover is that? Why are the seeds sticking to the ball? Australian clover is like burrs?
I’d recommend making a chicken tractor and moving it around the clover
Why don't you just mow it rake it up and throw it in the pen a lot easier.
We like to hang a head of cabbage like a pinata for our hens to play with.
One of those chicken arks could be good in that situation
We don't have chickens so that was fun to watch. 😀
beats the old brush from your army days lm sure mark

I hope this becomes a viral video for you!
What about…. sprouting clover somehow in a ball shape????
if your neighbor's dog kills your poultry, shouldn't you demand compensation for it? If they refuse, take them to court. It's their fault that their dog was let loose and if they can't learn their lesson, start sueing them for mental and emotional damage as well.
Fun idea .. ..enjoyed the vid : }
Let the chooks in. The soccer ball is lame
lol, so funny
