What’s best for your homestead is a chicken that proves itself to be the best fit for the specific conditions that exist on your homestead! You can’t buy a “breed” developed for conditions somewhere else and expect that it will perform well at your homestead. It will not. Therefore, the whole idea of breeds is flawed. Homesteaders should develop their own breeds, ones that perform best on their homesteads and in their bioregions. What breed is that chicken? MY breed.
