Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂 #vegetables #gardentour #gardening

G'day Everyone! It has been tough conditions to film in lately – lots of rain and wind (rain is good though) but CRIKEY things are growing fast! Thanks for your support! Don't forget to check out my website https://selfsufficientme.com/ Cheers 🙂
Looked up that New Guinea Bean. It was negative 4 F (-20 C) last night. If I want to plant that one, I think I am going to need a nice greenhouse. Looking good! Love your channel!
Hello from little ole Maryland, US. 🙂 Great video my friend.
Hi Mark, where did you get the native basil and Egyptian spinach from? I'd love to grow both in my yard

Walking in the pumpkin vines in shorts scares me for you, aren't there poisonous everything there??
I m from India and following you from last 2 years a big fan of yours
Thank you for showing us your garden of veggies
Spectacular garden. Thank you for sharing your work on this channel!!!
I literally live in an opposite hemisphere and in the North at that, so there are tons of differences in the types of things you can grow really well where you live and what I can grow where I live. And even though it’s summer for you now and winter for me, I just wanna say you’re such a delight to watch and I enjoy your perspective to gardening and learn a lot from you. Thank you!

Egyptian spinach and peas that taste kind of like asparagus… Asparagus pea
You have such a wonderful inspiring show. I'm working on mulch . You. have such good ideas.
We called that UPO in the Philippines. We cook that with meat and vegetables ,or make soup.with shrimps
I grew cucuzza last year. It looks the same as what you grew. I only had 1 seed germinate. Do you have any tips for germinating them? I tired several methods but I can’t remember which method worked and produced my 1 plant.
Are you being or going to be affected by the Tonga volcano?
My grandma grows this type of squash often its greta in soups and some people dry it up to make a healthy tea, i prefer it in soups, they get really long but i find the ones that have fatter/wider genes to be more desirable since it can at least fit on a cutting board.
It also good in stir fry if you slice it thin enough
my brother and i used overgrown zuccini as baseball bats when we were kids, yes they do explode
oh my gord had me cracking up, keep up the good work and jokes Mark!
Man Mark! I haven't seen you in about a year since the "eating only what we grow" video. For some reason Youtube hasn't been pushing your videos to my feed despite being subscribed for ages. Did you do something to anger the algorithm? Either way, I've got a lot to catch up on. Good to know you're still kickin' brother. Best of luck to you and yours and the chickens (no foxes)!

Pardon 4 asking, but have you considered digging a pond somewhere on your lands? Some species of frogs can be considered natural pesticide after all.
(Search for 'permaculture pond' and have a look see!)
