A true throwback Appalachian style recipe! This was very common for my Great-Grandmother to make for many meals and this is exactly how she and her mother both made it. I did use a different style pasta today as I prefer organic as much possible for health reasons. Try it! It’s an old family fave! Enjoy and thanks for watching!

I will def add the bacon next grease next time! <3 xoxo
One of my favorite childhood meals!!!!!! And it was always simple tomatoes, salt ,pepper and butter
Mama made whatever pasta she had, diced tomatoes, 1/4 stick of butter to put into the pasta, garlic salt, & a couple of good shakes of ground black pepper. I always cut up some basil in mine. Simple, no brainer-easy peasy! But yummy & filling too! Nothin' wrong with simple, homemade dishes!
so good to see someone else makes this! we always call it "macaroni and maters" one of my favs growing up that my nanny makes, God Bless ~Christina (north GA)
Miss P, i grew up in VA and mama fixed "macaroni & tomatoes" on our supper table at least once a week. She sprinkled liberally with garlic salt and cracked black pepper. That's some kinda good eatin' , girl!
Love that recipe and can't wait to try it! I learned my mother to save my bacon drippings and she was from Mississippi so that's where I got my style of cooking from. My Dad was from WV and I discovered that my ancestors were Scotch Irish and helped to settle Appalachia, I have half cousins and other relatives that are still there. I love you video and will surely be watching more!!
This was my mom's go to dinner when we were kids.. She used butter pepper and sugar..sometimes we just had tomato juice…I like it better than Macaroni and cheese
I love macaroni and tomatoes…comfort food from my youth.
Oh my goodness haven't had macaroni & tomatoes in so long. My mama used to cook the pasta in the tomatoes with a little extra water and a couple pats of butter delish! Have to make some of this soon. P.S. used the recipe from Cane Creek cookbook for cornbread except I cut 2 ears of corn w /the corn milk from the cobs in it delish. It was a lot like mike anyways but I use buttermilk and I did the honey in it instead of sugar.
I love this meal with pon of bread
Mom always made this and we all loved it!!
I still make this, but I add green pepper and onion. Delicious
This was one of my favorite meals as a kid growing up in South Texas. Thank you for sharing this great example of real food that real people eat.
I'm from Illinois and this is one of my favorites as well I used to use tomatoes but now I use tomato soup and if I double I use one and one soup and tomatos and bacon in it is a huge treat it bacon flavor will make this dish even if it's just the grease
I’m from the northeast. This is what I did when I couldn’t find time to make marinara sauce. I like it much better with some sautéed ground beef and frozen peas mixed in, top with mozzarella cheese and put it under the broiler a few minutes.
what type of pasta is that?
She aint no Nigela Lawson !
This is my favorite comfort food I use chopped bacon a large chopped onion salt and pepper couple pinches of sugar 4 cans of tomatoes with juice a little ketchup and 4 cups water I use shell macaroni love this thanks for posting
Tried making this without the bacon grease or butter as an adult and couldn't figure why it tasted so much different than I had remembered as a child, a friend's mother clued me it and now it comes out awesome every time. One of the dishes that seems to have gone out of fashion.
I love it. This is the food of the people. God bless America.
We had this in school cafeteria…was always good
Starting back up this playlist.
Add some onions and that's what my family called tomato mac. Yum! I could go for some of that right now.
