If you milk Helen, could it induce labor? I was two weeks late for both of my daughters, hit the milk pump for 20 minutes and gave birth within 12 hours for each of them. Coincidence? I think not.

You should put up some bat houses for sure to combat the mosquitoes in the summer time around your ponds (SC mosquitos around areas of water are on XGames mode) and some owl boxes to help with the mice.

Rodents just about ruined my garden a few years back and I still have issues with my fruit trees.
We've found that catch and release traps work best. But, I wonder if there's something more we can do?
Trust Helen is okay and that baby will soon appear for you all to watch grow up…..can you hear her call in the barn at night if she needs you?

Do you feed your sheep onions? I'm not a farmer, but have heard that onions are a great way to keep sheep worm free.
If you're trying to grow onions or garlic indoors how wide and deep of a pot would you use for either individual plants or groups of like 3 to 5?
Suggestion: plant diverse native seeds/plants on the pond bank. They will naturally provide sol health, geese health and ultimately people health. Contact Hamilton Native Outpost for seeds and seed mixture suggestions.

We have such a bad mole and vole issue that we had to put a sheet of hardware cloth under our plant frames… I think my chickens eat the voles that get into the chicken run/pen.

Now I found grocery store garlic in my fridge with green sprout things and I am going to plant them in Aldi shopping bags (think they were 2.00 each) and put them in front of south facing slider for a month then put them outside (Iowa). No idea if this will work but I know tossing them in the trash won’t. Thanks for being a bad influence keep it up.

I’ve never commented on anything but I was very fascinated by the fact that you made a new start, looks like from scratch but in the other hand with lots of experience. I applaud you. I have a personal question, I would like to know your opinion about. I live in CA. and I don’t know much about the differences between NC and east Tennesse. Why did you choose NC and not Tennesse. I do want to relocate from west to east to start kind of a homestead for my family and I was just wondering about pros and cons. I am in late 50s and some of my kids with my grandkids may want to move with me down the road. I would appreciate your information. Thanks.
I have had toulouse and brown Chinese geese in pasture and in the woods. With and without small fruit trees. Just be very cautious with protecting the fruit trees from the geese. Mine are chewers and will work on fencing, tender tree bark, tarps, etc. Think naughty puppies. Mine also test electric a lot and will try to graze outside the fence no matter how much grass they have.
When I planted in ground for the first time I really regretted not starting with a woodchip buffer zone around the perimeter of the garden, clover and grasses creeped their way back in and led to far more weeding than necessary
