  1. Nice company. I got their bee friendly lawn replacement to try this year. As for their garden maps, I looked at it and they lumped your region together with mine. That one mountain range in between makes a lot of difference.

  2. Heads up! West Coast is doing pre orders for their Ranunculus now.
I’ve been a customer of theirs for a few years now. Good value and great customer service from a Canadian company. Typically I receive my order to Alberta in 7-8 days.

  3. I used to order from West Coast Seeds for years but have had problems with back orders not being fulfilled or refunded. Also the shipping costs were high compared to other companies. Good quality seeds though.

  4. I'm not a raw tomato fan, but I'm a little obsessed about growing them, despite being allergic to the plants too. I've done various experiments with them as regards to taste, and when is best to pick. Frankly, I don't find it makes that much difference. In fact, having had people insist that a dark green, shiny tomato won't ripen off the vine, I even put that to the test too. I usually grow Black Krim, my favourite beefsteak so far, each year, and had one come off the vine, long before it was even close on the surface to being ripe. Well. since they ripen from the inside out, I sat it on my South facing window sill, and just left it. Being in the UK, growing totally outside, in a huge Blight risk area, I had to pull a lot off early that year. They all ripened before it, so it sat…and sat. After everything else had finished, I was about to give up, and throw it away, only to notice it had started to blush. It tasted no different to all the others that had come off the plants.

I saw mention of Brad Gates varieties in the comments. I'm in zone 8, but temperate, and his Barry's Crazy Cherry, plus Brad's Atomic Grape are also on my 'must grow' list. They are the only two varieties that beat Blight last season, out of twelve varieties grown. Outstanding plants that produced into November, before a hard frost finally wiped them out. I also grew the Pink Berkeley Tie Die last year, which is a stunner! I'm giving his Brad's Black Heart a try this year too, which I'm hoping does just as well.

  5. Hi Serina, I watched your video the other day noted you had been made the brand ambassador for West Coast seeds. I wonder if you could look into this situation. I’m growing a few flowers for a personal cut flower patch. I buy from various Canadian seed companies. Til today, not had an issue. This is the message I sent WCS. Lavatera seeds pkt contains 35 seeds, with 62% germination rate. OSC seeds sells the same variety for $2.19, with 50 seeds in a pkt.
Your website says 48 seeds, no mention of germination rate.

Statice seeds your pkt 15 seeds, germination rate 60%. OSC sells same with 80:seeds in pkt for $2.99
Your website says 20 seeds, no mention of low germination rate.
I would like to have these seeds replaced with packets with advertised number of seeds or refunded.
So, significant seed shortage in pots, no mention of low germination rates. Obviously, I should have done a price and seed number comparison. Thanks
    Freda Seddon

  6. Love west coast seeds! Lots of tomato varieties! I now have over 120 kinds now. Many of them from this company! Also, their yellow wonder strawberry seeds are so amazing!
