VIDEO: Responsibility & Respect~

We travel to take Miss Mia to her first vet appointment. Are kittens in our future? We shall see… SEE MORE below!
Also, we take you to Blythe Ferry again to reflect. In 1838, the ferry served as a gathering point and crossing for the Cherokee Removal, known as the Trail of Tears. Blythe Ferry was established by William Blythe and his Cherokee wife, Nancy Fields, around 1809. The ferry was an important river crossing on the “Great Road” between Chattanooga & Knoxville. xo

  1. Thanks for letting me see this. One of my great grandfathers went on the Trail of Tears. A distant relative led the Wofford Train. What the Cherokee suffered preys on my mind. The beautiful land they left is the same land that all my great-great grandparents left to come to Texas. I love being able to see Appalachia on your channel. Thanks for what you do.

  2. I love when you do this kind of videos, I love history, as a nation, we have such a rich one, not all good, but that teaches us, and we learn compassion. I also love your hat! You wear it well ! Happy New Years!

  3. the Trail of Tears make me very sad, that this could be done over a little bit of gold found in Georgia, thank you tor putting it up not sure if it was 5 or 7 tribes that was force to leave there land I live in Unicoi , TN. it near Johnson City TN. a lot of the land here is in the Cherokee National Forest, protected by the Forest Service. like it was in the 1830es we are a few miles off the Appalachia Trail. been on it some, no homestead but i do Garden as much as i can , i sow the seeds and the Lord bless them and make them grow, Bless you Patara

  4. A simple but sincere and heartfelt thank you for stirring memories for me. As I reflect back over my 67+ years I realize that I must re-aquaint myself with this very sad and disgraceful part of our and my history. Never forget.
And glad to hear about Miss Mia.

  5. Patara, you are blessed to be able to have your roots so nearby…..I need to fly to Germany to the Rhineland-Palatinate region. It's not in the cards at this time, but it is definitely something I am planning for in my future. Thus far I've gone back to 1719 on my paternal side. There is so much work to do. I use Ancestry.com and familysearch.com. I would assume you use those sites as well? I wish you well on your journey into genealogy. I'm happy that you discovered Mia and took her home as your Christmas gift this year. I hope you will have many years together, as you did with Oliver. Love watching your videos, and seeing all of your precious animals. Stay well, my friend! (I'm fixing to make a batch of Elderberry tonic for myself, and one for my daughter and her husband. Thanks for the recipe.)

  6. Thank you, I just wish the history of Trail of Tears and more were being taught in schools. It's some comfort that in Tahlequah, the schools and street signs are bi-lingual. Glad it's being used daily.

  7. At times I'd see the hurt inside my dad, how deep did their racist remarks cut him. I don't know why they chose the surname Nelson. One day dad shared how missionaries brought reading, writing and arithmetic to the reservation. Great grandpa Willie believed, and mentored my dad to believe when he was 9. Owe a lot to them. Thanks for letting me share. My dad taught me that you can't judge a book by it's cover, and you have walk a mile in the other man's moccasins before you could judge him.
