An easy one for those who are worried about the supply chain…and so easy to grow-tuck one in here and there-a good one for beginners-who don't have a big yard.
Can I do the same for sweet potatoes???
Hi Mark, I'm from Massachusetts but also a zone 6b area. I was wondering if you might have planting calendar resources to recommend. If not thats fine, thanks.
Grabbed some from the store a couple of weeks ago for just this purpose. Organic taters seem to sprout quickly.
If you have a Whole Foods or a food coop, you can generally trust their organic labeled white & sweet potatoes are good for planting as a back-up.
I was always told by my dad to have my potatoes planted by march 15th. I finally got most of them planted by that date and now we have a week of freezing temperatures. I hope I have them deep enough to survive this drop! Thank you for the video. I may be going out and getting more now!
Tractor supply has a bunch of seed potatoes
Can you do video about eggshells in the garden (and in compost bin)? Will raw eggshells cause salmonella if it is a part of finished compost that is spread around edible plants like lettuce?
I got my seed potatoes from the local co-op a couple weeks ago, and I'm glad I did because they're already sold out too.
By all means, get some from the local grocery if you need to. I've never had any problems with disease or anything using store potatoes.
Great tip, thank you for sharing.
Mine always sprout. In fact I just found a bag of reds that got left near a vent a month or so ago that are covered with sprouts and a week ago I planted a bunch of russets that probably got frozen unfortunately.
when should we plant them outside? May?
