  1. My mammaw had a wood stove. My great grandmother in Alabama had a big wood stove. They didn't even have electric buy she stayed warm. Papa would get up at night and put more wood in to stay warm. I loved it. My papaw made me sasafras tea on their 2 burner wood stove.

  2. You can make paper bricks, there are instructions on you tube. I follow you tbers in yorkshire, London and Brittany. People there have BBQ's, wood buring stoves and stockpiles of wood. One is pulling apart wooden pallets. These are usually free.

  3. We aren't stopping either. Hubby goes one direction and I go the other lately and if we're lucky, we eat dinner together lol. Still putting up the last of the garden and cutting wood while hubby is getting other fuels, helping neighbors do the same. It's just full out right now. Some days I wonder how I got so behind. But then I ask myself that every Fall.

  4. Not too many days ago we were hitting 90-96 degrees. Tonight we look to drop below freezing. Upper 20's. It's cold here already at 11 pm. (North Iowa) Survival Lily really does have a valuable channel and updates things there regularly. Also a gal in Scotland sending out information and it sounds like a very hard time this winter for all.

  5. If you live in rural central Florida, wood heat is the last thing on your mind, A/C is 90% of the year. You cannot really paint with a broad bush geographically unless you live in that area……BTW, I grew up just west of Harriman, TN and we had wood heat from 1979-2018. I lived it year after year, both as an adult and as a child.

It's a different world down here…..Other than a nuclear winter, the problem in Florida is HEAT, not cold.

  6. I'm in Oregon and everyone has a tent for there emergency back up if power goes out or your snowed in like we were for six months no kidding. Power lines down all over and snow that you can't find your car. You have a ladder out ready to clean the roof off the home not to cave inn. So a 3 man tent kept us warm in our home.
