VIDEO: The ONLY Crop I Know You Can Sow and Grow 4 Times in a Year!
An update and harvest of our 45 day beet project. This was a test to see how many harvests we could get out of our beets. We sowed seeds in April, June, August, and September!
I dislike beets. They taste like a skunk smells to me. Cilantro is another crop that I dislike. Would love to have a crop that I could plant multiple times a year. 🙁
My beets never seem to grow. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
I love beet juice from my backyard garden, but I hate having to shave their skins off to get to all that wonderful juice
I've had really poor success with beets, maybe you can help? I usually direct sow, but have spotty germination (yes, using MiG seeds) and then I get terrific greens but the beet is a tiny spindly thing.
I cannot for the life of me get beets to grow. I can't figure it out.
My second crop was bullseye beets they were delicious.
Question, i have had some of my watermelons look and feel ripe. The tendral was brown and dead, so we harvested them. When we cut them open, they were white. What happened? These were huge, about 15-18 lbs. I am confused. Any suggestions?
Those beets are beautiful for pickling.
I've got beets growing right now, looking forward to harvesting soon. Yummy!
Chard. Parsley. Lettuce. Turnip.
When are you planting garlic?
I used to think I hated beets, then videos like this made me feel empowered to grow them myself. So of course they're delicious now.
Thank you for the great information !
Thanks. How are they in containers?
I got my seeds today and i will be planting them tmr i CANT WAIT THE SHIPPING TIME WAS GREAT!
My beets were heavily affected by leaf miners, what is the best way to keep them out of my beet leaves? Zone 4b Central Colorado
My beets grow so much slower than that. What’s a trick to get them to grow like that? My beet greens looks great too, they really love this cool fall weather!
That's great news Luke. Can they be planted in the same area more than once?
I’ve had the worst luck with beets. Leaf miners are a real problem. Maybe I’ll try it now. Thanks.
My beets bust dont grow =/
my beets are just now starting to swell up their roots, very much excited for them. in the mean time i have occasionally plucked off some leaves for steaming them to serve with my lunch.
And for the people that live in the southern states of the USA, Egyptian walking onions are a perennial onion that keeps replanting itself several times a year
I'm in central France, about zone 7 or 8 I think. I have to grow in the polytunnel because of the Houdini Hens and Daredevil Ducks. In summer it can get to 40°C or higher in there.
Would I be able to grow the same variety or different ones depending on the season?
I leave the beets in the ground and just continually harvest the leaves. Same with chard.
I grow cilantro 12 times a year. I want it fresh all the time. I grow them in the shade in summer, and fill sun, protected on the porch in the winter. I start them indoors and transplant when they are big enough.
I luv them for the soil improvement, and the greens are exceptional, they sell really well, but personally I think the fruit just taste like dirt. Will germ and grow under horrible conditions. I'll always scatter a few – ps; most of mine bolt far too early. Central Indiana.
What can I plant this weekend in zone 9a/Florida?
Nothing beats Beets
