Make this homemade wassail recipe to evoke all those holiday feels and conjure up memories of times spent together.
Wassail is traditionally a warm cider drink with the flavors of apple cider, orange juice and mulling spices (like cinnamon and clove) served during the holidays.
Mix this up for your next gathering and enjoy the delicious aroma as it fills your home.

Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm
Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.
There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

There is an episode of Tudor monetary farm on BBC. That covers waisaile. "Waisaile (like a cheers) drink ale!" Is what they shout at the trees. It is kid friendly and a very educational show. Highly recommend.
Thank you ❤ it sounds so good
Wassail has been a recipe in my Arkansas family for generations. We do apple juice and pineapple juice. So yummy!!
I have never heard of it. It sounds delicious. I am going to have to try it.
Hey Jess, how is the eczema doing? I have a terrible time with it and although we have narrowed it down (primarily) to acidic foods, it still flares. If you have any success stories, please share. Blessings always, g.
Toast, "Wassail"!
Response, " Drink Ale!"
Yes, I just finished watching all the BBC history shows with Ruth, Alex and Peter starting in Tudor England up until the Wartime Farm series. Highly recommend. Thank you for the recipe Jess, sounds like a plan for this rainy weekend.
Yummy! Always kicks off the holidays but I'm thinking we have permission to dive in any time now. Thanks Jess!!! Love you!
I love listening to the Gloucestershire Wassail https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO1qGUdnOvQ
It'll get stuck in your head, though, just warn you 🙂
My mom has been making wassail for as long as I can remember ❤️
FYI, Startbucks still has Carmel Apple spice, I love it!
Lol, I have been making the same non-recipe apple cider drink for years! It tickles me to bits to see you approach it the same way.
Our town (New Braunfels,Tx) has a Wassailfest in the downtown area where all the shop owners make their own version and it's voted on by those attending. Enjoy!!
“Rustic and functional is fine by me”. I need this tshirt!!!!”
Thank you, Jess. Always looking for food ideas. Hot spiced cider is a good one. Haven't had it for ages. I may have to whip some up. God bless.
I used to sing in madrigals in HS which will always be cherished memories. Being Missourians we pronounced it Wah-sail (like sailing on a boat) now I will be tracking down the madrigal song
Love you talking about anchoring traditions. Please keep sharing.
We used to have a bookstore with Bunches of cozy chairs and they offered this and different teas and hot chocolate with peppermint sticks during the holiday season. Usually they just had coffee and tea going
We always had that at my Grandmothers house. She would use a “party size” coffee pot. All the spices would go in the basket and it would perk and be sooooo good
Wassel on! Thank you
I Love wassail!! Your ideas are incredible just like you!!
Make this so often in the fall! A friend was just saying she made it for a get together at her house and trying to pronounce it, lol. She said it much the way you do, and not how you said it during our history (love that!) you southerners and southwesterners crack me up with your accents!
Love it! Love it! Love it!!! Thank you!!! Blessings!
I love your content, but the editing of this particular video was painful
my mom made wassail from thanksgiving to Christmas every year when I was growing up. When I smell the flavors of wassail I think of my mom.
