Today’s video features the incredible new kitchen garden at Raithwiate Sansend Hotel which is just outside Whitby, North Yorkshire, England. This no dig garden is an inspiration to anyone who only has a slope to work with, and it defies the odds by also being north-facing! I hope you get inspired by this as much as I did when I visited. Thank you so much for showing us gardening on a hill! Would love to see how to actually build the beds. So many of us don't have flat yards to grow in.
WOW – now all I need is 10K to cut down all the trees on my property lol
Here's a tip for keeping deer out of your garden…. Deer won't jump to where they can't see the landing, so you actually don't even need really tall fences to keep them out, you just need tp make a barrier wall about 5 feet tall that they can't see through to where their landing spot is and have it look somewhat treacherous to jump. Get creative
Beautiful! Well done!
What a wonderful video, beautiful garden, and explained exceptionally well. Well done all of you.
What a beautiful garden… but I doubt the wisdom of putting it on a north facing slope…cuts down productivity with lower light levels etc
Great filming and interview, very inspiring
Another brilliant co-production. Inspiring, beautiful, and down-to-earth. Thanks for sharing.
Sustainable? Don’t you dummies know they’re lying about the climate? This is about control. Key words. Sustainability, resiliency, consensus. You might wanna pay attention to what the UN and the world economic forum is saying. Nice garden but all gardens are good. Too bad they are lying about the carbon that makes all living things thrive; foods and humans and that garden is a threat to the world don’t you know?
Absolutely brilliant video, The terrace planting is great, what a challenge and how lovely to see such another passionate gardener. A hard task to provide for a restaurant so much respect. Big challenges ahead. All the best X
Thank you for another great piece, i have recently put in autumn shallots about a week ago when they came into a no dig i started after the desert that was left. And with in the month of Nov we had about 1 quarter of yearly rain. I am from the east coast of Essex, a good year is 20 – 25 inches a year it's dry here. And reached in the shade on hottest day 43c but due to rules don't count. After this year nearly killing my job (gardener) as well as a lot of crop the insect pest was like a plague and not even the desert got rid of them, in fact made it worse. I have re-established a wild pond with homes for the slugs and snail as well as the frogs a toad i'll like, but it take what i can within 2 weeks female frog set up home in hard core, sticks and chippings with overflow to pond going into that wood chippings . Set up home due to the temp drop faster than a chav knickers for a bag of chips i believe and hope they can sit out the winter there it on slope south facing with concrete rocks and browns in about a foot deep . The soil of recent planting has changed there are like see through worms with bugs that go through their casts (poo) and other things eating them etc the robins , tits and finches go through after even i walked on the pathways. thank you to you and Charles Dowling, but your camera work, mate, is something else @YouTube photography and film award !
leider nur Gerede und das auch noch sehr schnell ….. Falls er was weitergeben wollte. Langsamer sprechen, Luft holen und eine bessere Übersetzung und zwischendurch mal was Anderes einschieben ….
fantastic garden
Stunning garden!!❤
What a beautiful and inspiring video. Thank you.
your garden is beautifull
Cool, I bet you could grow lots of winter greens too in those tunnels.
As always.. great video
Wow! This video has blown my mind! Congratulations to the property owners and their workers and thanks to Huw.
I have a huge deer and parrot problem. Its put me off. I do have a hill like yours which looks nice. Having tanks on top of the hill makes watering easy
What a beautiful garden.
Amazing garden concept and execution. I love the circular flow of all the items so that the byproducts are returned back to the beginning to be part of the next cycle.
Just stunning!
Love this series of videos. They're beautifully shot and so informative.
