  1. Some really good advice thankyou. I have never been able to get carrots going either on the allotment or in the small garden I have. Ants carry away the seed before it has a chance to get going. Are there any tips for discouraging ants as they are all over both my garden and allotment? They even climb up into my pots!

  2. We have harsh winters, -44Celsius and colder. I notice when I have left carrots in the soil over the winter they are fresh, sweet and crunchy when I pull them out of the soil in the spring.

  3. Have had nearly zero success getting the damnable carrot seeds to germinate. However, starting inside in deep containers might be the ticket as it will be easier to keep them damp. Here in California I think the soil dries out too quickly.

  4. New subscriber enjoying binge watching tonight, thank you love your wee dog and so does Barney our Springer Spaniel who is cuddled along my cheek viewing too. Vera

  5. I love your videos! Super helpful! You've confirmed my suspicions that our soil was too compact & heavy this year. My little carrots didn't do much

  6. I tried to grow carrots last year for the first time here in 9B Sacramento. Limited success. Now, after watching your video, I feel confidant I can get better results. We have mild-to-no hard frosts here, my lowest usual temp in Dec or Jan is 29F and my last frost date is end of Feb/early March. So I am going to start some carrot seeds on Boxing Day and let you know how I make out by Feb or March. Thanks for that confidence building video and Merry Christmas to you.

  7. Awesome! Blessings to everyone, if you haven't yet repented and accepted Christ Jesus as your lord and savior, please do so before it's too late it's not gods will for none to perish. Acts 2 vs 38 John 3vs 16 Romans 10 vs 13

  8. This is such a great insight to growing carrots. I have been enjoying them in my garden for years now. There is nothing like having your own grown carrots for meals long after they have been harvested. Any information can help in my quest. And this type of video really helps keep my motivation high. Thanks for sharing.

  9. New subscriber here thoroughly enjoying your videos.
Being in Australia with a super rocky and at times ferociously windy block, every good tip is super welcome.
PS. I like my tender carrots raw or as part of the veggie mix in an Indian dal.

  10. I have always had bad results with carrots, so this year I'm going to try pelleted seed in a raised bed. Have you tried pelleted seed? I'm curious if there are any downsides to using it other than it having a much shorter shelf life than regular seed.

  11. i really really struggled sowing carrots tll i started sowing them on the surface of soil and then covering them with plastic or whatever then they all come up! brfore that I would plant 100s and get one! i want to try pelleted seeds to help with spacing!

  12. carrot roots fork if there too much nutrient i the soil. The roots split ad spread after the nutrients.
Best to have lower nutrient soil for carrots, that makes the plant 'search' downward for the nutrients.
Competition carrots growers, tend to grow in sand.
To avoid carrot fly issues, don't grow your carrots at ground level. a high raised bed or tall planter is ideal.
