Making elderberry syrup for use in mixing as a drink. We mix in primarily in water. Purported to have medicinal uses. I use metric measurements as that is what is available to me. Not sure how to transfer them but there are many, and varied, recipes. Look around. You may find one that suits you better than mine.
10 Elderberry doldens
1 kilogram sugar
15 to 25 grams zitronensäure (Abscorbic acid) Lemon juice can be used
1 liter water
Shake off the doldens well. Rinse if it makes you feel better but it will remove much of the pollen which helps give it the health benefits. Remove the blooms. heat 1 liter of water with 1 kilogram of sugar. (I used only 1/2 kg sugar) Pour over the blooms, cover, and let sit for 1 to 3 days stirring a couple of times a day. Strain and filter the mixture and pour into bottles. Refrigerated will last for several days. We will be treating it as a canned item and heat sealing to last several months.
YES !!! I LOVE elderberry, I make tea with the flowers and syrup with the berries. Elderberry is natures medicine cabinet. it has Anti-Viral properties which is why it is used for the flu. Sambucol is a patent flu medication
A nice interesting video, although we have made elderflower wine in the past I have never thought of making it into a syrup. Just a pity we don't have any elderberries on the property we have now. I will keep a look out for them though as I wouldn't mind giving it a go. The syrup looked a lovely colour,

So it appears that sachet you have is lemon acid. Prolly ascorbic acid with a lemony flavour. Prolly you can ferment that stuff too, make elderberry wine. Pop a bit of yeast in one of your containers ? ;o)

Elderberry is good for breaking a fever, colds and upper respiratory infections. It's also an antiviral and can be used for flu and shingles. To make a syrup you take 2 ounces of berry and 1 quart of water. Put these in a pot over low heat, bring to a simmer and cover partially. Simmer down to half the original liquid and strain out berries. For each pint of liquid add 1 C. of honey. Warm this over low heat, stirring well. There's your syrup! Take 1/2 to 1 tsp of syrup every 2 hours for a total of 10 tsp per day until symptoms are gone. Thanks for sharing this video and bringing awareness to herbs 🙂
