  1. Random question… could you plant veining winter squash with runner beans to share a trellis arch? I just think the foliage and flowers of them together would look beautiful!

  2. The snake beans look more like a squash. A winter squash or melons like pumpkin, acorn, butternut with the stringy stuff. They just don't have the thick skin amd meatiness of those things.

  3. Hey Jesse, Snake beans are clearly related to Bitter Melon. Bitter Melon seeds taste like cherry candy. Just the slime coating around the seeds. Try some of the Snake Beans in curry when they are 10-12 inches long.
I am surprised that you don't grow parsnips in your root vegetables. Turga is my go to variety as the seeds remain viable for 2 years, all other varieties are only viable for 1 year.

  4. I read somewhere that the overly ripe snake beans are cooked down into a paste and used as a replacement for tomato paste. Bought some snake bean seeds this year and am planning to grow some

  5. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experiences with gardening! You have helped change my life so much. I lost my dog last June and dived headfirst into building a garden, it was the best therapy I so desperately needed. You've "held my hand" the entire time and I'm so grateful.
