VIDEO: Tropical Storm Cindy and Our Garden
The remnants of tropical storm Cindy came through bringing some pretty heavy rains and high winds. The corn and sunflowers didn’t have fun…
wow it sure is coming down. love the sound of rain but yeah hope it doesn't do too much damage. geesh. tfs
Well that's no good on the sunflowers the corn ought to pop back up though it looks!!
Wow those sunflowers along the house are tall!!
With the rain everything ought to start growing better!!
Have a good'nnn
awe real sorry about that.
Very disappointing to see all the damage. Maybe some can be saved.
Nice thanks for sharing
I had a huge hickory tree fall in my yard and across the road blocking it That tree was already huge 57yrs ago.We were blessed that it didn't fall on anybody or structures. We have many trees that could fall on the house. The ground is so saturated any wind now would be bad news!
Sorry about the second planting of corn and the Sunflowers, I guess that is just how nature goes. You had mentioned doing something to the cor that mostly stayed standing, that you did not do to the corn that was mostly down. My apologies, but I could not catch that word. Happy to hear that the rain was beneficial for the rest of the garden! We got a brief shower yesterday, the first rain we have seem in almost 6 months, and everyone around here is giddy that the ground actually got wet!
So sad! We were very luck here. Lost a few trees and shingles but my garden and greenhouse came out ok!
Great update even though it is very sad!~
Chuck
we got some rain from the storm just not like what you got
Very sorry to see the damage. Glad you folks and the house are fine….plants can be replaced:)
Well, not as bad as it could have been. Will admit I want to ask where you are but don't want to be too intrusive. I lived about 1/2 mile from the coast on the Gulf coast. Tropical storms were expected in spring. Hurricane Ivan got us and Dennis made landfall directly on us. Katrina gave us some pretty good gales.
The torrential rain flattened ALL my squash. :'(
I'm very sorry for your lost in your beautiful garden, As you may know I know all too well about this T S. But, We will save what can be save, and re-plant, I don't know where you are located, but you must be in the south.. we have a lot of planting time before our first frost.. It well be ok. our Garden is stronger then we think..Now!! It's time for a lot of Work in our Garden..lol Enjoy Your Day..
oh my gosh Lea. I can't tell you how sorry I am that this happened to you.
Midwest Gardner had to come up with something on the fly as he got very high winds for quite a few days in a row.
you have longer rows than he does but he put a t post at each end of his row and braced each side of his corn with 4 rows of string on each side of his corn.
if you want you could see that video and maybe that would help you. It's just a suggestion. take care and I'll be thinking of you.
so sorry about the corn that was knocked down friend and the beautiful sunflowers that were broken. You have so much that was not destroyed by cindy the meanie! 🙂
It was nice to see the rain and then you showed the downed plants, but the overall garden yield will probly go up from Cindy.
very well maintained kitchen garden.
Cindy definitely was not nice to you and Alan. We do have our challenges. Best wishes Bob.
sorry to see your corn was so damaged. Just hope it recovers.
Cindy was not a nice gal, good she wasn't more angry. my corn and sunflowers suffer every rain and storms. my ground gets so wet they fall over without wind. some make it. we have storms tomorrow evening. your garden is super nice. I say again you two are working it. I started riding my bicycle again because you mentioned riding alot. that seat is hard. lol have the greatest evening.
Man that really did some damage to your sunflowers and corn. Sorry about that.
WOW! That was like some of the rainstorms we had here last week! Sorry to see some of the damage your garden took. Cheers from Toronto!
