About Urban Farmer Curtis Stone:
Curtis Stone started Green City Acres, a commercial urban farm called Green City Acres out of Kelowna, BC, Canada, in 2010. His mission is to show others how they can grow a lot of food on small plots of land and make a living from it. Using DIY and simple infrastructure, one can earn a significant living from their own back yard or someone else’s.

Very Inspiring Curtis! I heard from a recently retired fruit Exporter in Western Canada that all fruit the BC has gone way down in quality over the last several years. It used to be some of the best in the world and now only average. He said in his last years working he constantly saw dead birds on the farms after eating the fruit (pesticide poisoning). He said there is no ‘mom & pop shops left’ and its all East Indians and they use illegal pesticides they smuggle over the US boarder. Your thoughts on this?
Good Luck
Awesome! Just wish this concept of market gardening takes off in India as we have a very good natural back to basics organic package to support this initiative. Thanks for the education

Thank you so much for this info
You are empowering the people
Thanks you for your devotion and all thi information
Curtis, if you have not heard of it, check out the book The Earth Sheltered Solar Greenhouse by Mike Oehler. Might be of use/interest to you in your quest to create a stable place for you to grow. All the best!
my concern with this is if all goes to hell and food goes short ….wont people just steal your food ?
I agree mate, I am doing the same in the UK. This is our 3rd year with a small NFT hydroponic system to grow our own food. I have just extended it to be able to grow an extra 120 plants to be able to feed ourselves and those we love.
For those unfamiliar, Kelowna/Okanagan is a nice, long growing climate relative to colder areas (aka Alberta/Montana). Can you share the zone? It is so challenging to grow enough food in zone 3, especially with the changing/unpredictable climate. Good luck with your new venture.
Hi Curtis. I'm new here and I would like to make a couple suggestions because shit has hit the fan for most people living paycheck to paycheck. And all of us are living through what might be the worst world event of our lives. Having said that I would suggest instead of "charging your fans $19.99/mo=$239.88, whom without you would not have 401,000 followers/subscribers". And instead try a little compassion and offer your private group membership fee of $2.00 per year, which, if all follow you to that venture would be:
401,000
x $2.00
=======
$802,000.00
Those numbers look like a win/win for all, even the most cash strapped amongst your subscribers. I'm just saying what's on my mind in times of shtf. What do you think?
The lettuce won't fill your belly and it's not got all that nutritional value that potatoes and other root veggies, tomatoes ,sqaush things like that.
I built 17 raised garden beds this April when everything shut down using reclaimed wood planks
cant wait to follow your new garden plan as I plan to start a new garden once this has passed and i can retire and move to the country
For organic class crops maybe you could divide your leased property into two separate leases and make the three sections farthest away from the spraying farmer into the organic farm!?!?
almost all economist and scientist agree that we cant keep going on like this and at this point it all HAS TO crumble in order to fix is,,, in other words all the bandaides that have been put on the economy are falling off ,,,and the only fix is to let it fall down and rebuild it right ,,,,, so with that in mind ,, every one should learn a way to survive and or barter with ,,,, your money will be useless … no one will take money that cant be spent anywhere ,,,, the estimate of where we will be living after the fall and all the rioters stealing and looters are thinned out , it will leave us in around the 1700s ,,, you can laugh ,,but think about it ,,,money is useless ,,, are you going to work for free ? … no ,, and neither is the gas pump ,, or the butcher ,, or the truck drivers ,,, etc.etc … there will be no gas,, electric,, sewage it will all shut down with out someone running it …so the old world skills will be the riches skills you could know ,,, raising meat,,,growing crops ,,,canning ,, hunting,, fishing ETC…. there is no other choice ,,,and the desperate people without these skills will get crazy ,,, to the point your life is nothing to a starving crackhead ,,, so self defence is another skill you should have …as things settle ,, just like in the old days … people will trade and barter locally,,,so the area youre in is very important too ….. I could go on for hours ,,,but if you just open your mind to everything shutting down ,,, you can see the domino effect
Curtis,,, I really wish you were closer to me ,,, I have 1,5 areas, 1 bought 3 used commercial greenhouses ( one that is worth at least 50k .. its aluminum truss design ,,, they ares all 25 x 50 ,, while I was taking them down the owner said there was more things I could have in the barn ,,, in there was another 25 x50 frame and 6 tunnels 14 x 50 ,, a 20 x 50 and 1 12 x 30 ,,, 3 heaters and 4 fans ,, there was so much I couldn't get it all in time ,,, but the bottom line he charges me 3k for everything ,,, I bought a ditch witch ( a big one that you sit on ,, but can pull up to a 4" pipe with out digging ,, the digger is 6" wide it has a backhoe on it and a dozer plow ( a real all in one machine ),,, also a JD 650 tractor with bucket , grading box, York rake ,, tiller ,, and tons of misc, pipes …. I got this all 2 years ago and since then ive been spending 100% of my time on health issues ,,,, I wish I could find like minded people ,,, the ones I fine just want to put in a couple buck , and do no work ,,, I cant have it that way
great video
I have the land. I am conceptualizing a small farm in Colorado and seeking a referral to work with someone experienced like you in something like a profit-sharing arrangement. I would appreciate your help. I can be reached at: jcdelacuadracpa@gmail.com. Looking forward to hear from you.
I have the same interest like yours. I am 'dreamin' of a Certified Organic farm. I think I have what you are thinking for a farm.
this is pretty fucking iconic tbh
Definitely watching; actually I’m going to
order the same foods that u are growing!
I have a half acre lot but its sloping not flat like yours will it still be possible for me?
use pvc pipe and get the plastic cover and throw it over https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YCP5wGCqqY
You are Amazing !!
Have your book on the way, will be budgeting a FTF subscription. I live in Newfoundland so aside from our traditional root crop, spuds, turnips, carrots and the like, most everything will have to live in a tunnel. I’ve started my research, and because of Covid and being off work I’ve become a junkie bing watcher, lol. So the start from scratch stuff is going to be a perfect fit for me as soon as I can find my land. The provincial government has released over 64,000 hectares of crown land here for crop production. I’ll have to do checking to see whole can qualify. As always, great vids, good luck with the new venture.
Curtis has mud in his veins !
