I don't need to grow more I just dry mine, my Chili plants live over and over again every test
How do you dry the peppers to make spices?
This year in our seed garden, we are growing Aji Dulce and Jimmy Nardello. We also love the Fish Pepper with its beautiful variegation and story.
Do the different color jalapeños taste much different from each other or is it merely a visual thing?
Totally possible to overwinter peppers, either hot or sweet, inside. They do look kinda dead over winter, although sometimes you get the odd pepper in the winter. Mine started growing new leaves last month (Mar) I think and got flower buds now(Apr). If I’d started them in Feb I’d be nowhere near flowers yet, so I totally advise overwintering.
Jess, please share your strawberry jalapeno jam recipe!!
I’m a new gardener, but I’m going to try to keep one of my peppers over the wonder. I’m planting it in a grow back to keep inside when it’s cold.
I am the same way, I can not handle spicy! I can barely stomach jalapeños lol. I love nadapenos and habanadas
Hey Jess, I love your channel!
What size pots did you up pot those peppers into?
Jess I just want you to know you have been my inspiration for growing and learning everything there is to know about growing my own food for my family me and the husband have recently started our own channel showing people what we are trying and are up too! It all started here with you!! Thank you for your wisdom!! Ps. Check out cosmic cultivators on youtube it's our combined channel about growing repurposing and astrophotography have a beautiful day and god bless
I love Fish peppers. I always grow that one every year. It was developed in the African American community in Baltimore in the 19th century. I live about 30 is minutes away from Baltimore so it always grows really well for me. I am trying the Sugar Rus Peach this year too and I'm really excited!
Love your videos
Is it too late to start peppers from seed now? I put them out too early and they all died. I put some new ones on my heating pad to seed but I’m nervous it’s too late. I just moved to the pacific west (east Washington) from Texas and this change in atmosphere is such a learning curve.
You can grow chili peppers over the winter if u make those BONSAI tree 🙂 that is so simple 🙂 And youtube is so many videos how to do that. Try that now next winter 🙂
What potting soil are you using for your baby pepper plants?
How old are these pepper plants?
In past years struggle with aphids, I've had much success with container gardening mint adjacent to the plants that tend picked on my aphids.
Multipepper powder in the homemade bbq sauce, oh yeah!!! Thanks for sparking the idea. Only growing one pepper this year a Purple Serrano.
You're talking about smoking peppers, I am growing garlic this year. Hoping for success in growing it, want to try my hand at apple wood smoked garlic.
Question – is there any colour coding going on when you tag or are the different colours random?
How do you use your ground pepper mix? Super curious! Also I know you enjoy the variegated plants, have you looked at the Jigsaw Pepper at Baker Creek? I'm going to try those out next year 🙂
Not sure if this is a silly question/ask…
Recipe/canning book coming soon?!
I cant get red peter peppers to germinate, nor the bhut jokoli. i keep trying. i use a heater and keep moist.
I just want to thank you for all your gardening advise. I'm poor so I've been taking seeds out of everything I eat. Drying them then planting them. Everything is growing even potatoes, carrots, Onions, green, broccoli, onions and cabbage. Thank you!!
Pro tip: wet soil before you put it into the containers, especially for peppers that don't like very wet cold roots
I LOVE a ground pepper mix!!!
The shishitos are my favorite too! They actually make a really great, flavorful and sweet chili powder when ripened to red, dried, and run through a food processor.
Really, really useful session – thank you!! And as always told in a truly engaging manner
