Any concern about pests over wintering in the foliage of a cover crop over winter? I’ll thinking especially slugs.
My silly apricot is blooming. I know we are going to get a frost/freeze again, (WI).
My MI Gardner garlic is already nearly a 8-10 inches tall here in Vermont. I am so very happy with my seed germination as well so far. YAY!!
I'm having to do everything indoors. I wish i could have a outdoor garden
I just looked up the last frost date for my area and it says "year around risk" what kind of things can I still grow?
Have plants from seed, already in garden: Komatsuna greens, Yod Fah broccoli, Chard, Tokyo green onion, Yellow Stuttgarter onion, and Chijimisai greens. Today planted Kuroda carrots (pre-sprouted) in 7 gal buckets (31 carrots per bucket x 3) and Cylindra beets (21 beets x 2). In 6 x 8 greenhouse more varieties of onions, broccoli, lettuce, celery, bok choy, and snapdragon, all from seed. Inside under grow lights all the tomatoes & peppers!
Still– more seeds to plant! Did some arugula after dinner. Tomorrow…cabbages! Edit to add, zone 4, and using frost tunnels in garden.
Thank you so much for the enthusiasm ❣️. This is why I come to your channel. It gets me excited to go out there. Start life and start living. Thank you so much
Thank you for all your help. You’ve inspired me to grow, grow, grow…. You’re great.
What do you do with kohlrabi? What does it taste like?
You missed peas! I just planted mine a few days ago. I can’t wait!
Hi Luke, I bought some kale seeds from you, and the seed packet says to plant them after the last frost. Why is that? Is it still okay to plant them now?
Spinach, lettuce, Brussel sprouts, broccoli, carrots can all go right in from seed, right? Your channel is awesome! If you ever come to Cedar Point/Sandusky or close by, I’d love to pick your brain and show you my gardens!!!! We love about 30 min east of sandusky 🙂
hello I thought the ground had to be a certain temperature for seeds to germinate, so if i sow some kale seed in cold weather will they germinate and what about potatoes if I plant them then it snows how will they be affected by a sudden change in the weather? Thanks
Thank You! Now I'm going to plant! ☺ I'm in Illinois anything Can happen too I hear frost in 2 days!
I am excited to eat dandelion flowers in my salad!!
I live in central Ontario Zone 4a. Our last frost date is early June. When is it ok to plant these early cool weather cops? The nice weather we have had lately has me itching to get my hands dirty. The frost is out of the ground. Beds are amended.
Even here in Texas we've seen late frosts! We had below 32 degrees on March 1st here in Austin, Texas this year
Ooh, cilantro, dill and parsley! I'm putting them out tomorrow then!
I'm in Pa, all my kale over wintered & most of my swiss chard has new growth already! In September I planted new kale & Brussels sprouts along side my garlic & everything is coming up great! I never realized what a time saver planting in the fall for spring crops could be! Thanks for your videos!
Had a great first attempt at a winter garden here in zone 7b.
Harvested winter planted Pac choi, kale, bunching onions, broccoli and snow peas, garlic and shallots (tops are 10in now) in mid Febuary.
We set up an early spring rotation in late Feb. with Great Winter spinach, and winter density lettuce, more bunching onions, leeks, Candy onions, beets, daikon, and all are nearing harvest readiness.
90% of my seed stock is from your store, Luke, and I couldnt be happier with the year round production we are getting!
How many weeks before the last frost can we get these into the ground? I’m in Canada and my last frost isn’t until May 23rd.
I live in a very hot area of Californa. I started my tomatoes indoors in January. I think I am going to start in December next year. If I don't start early, they get scorched before they fruit.
thanks for the early tips
Thank you Luke you are awesome!!!
lettuce, radishes, kale, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, beets, onions, chives, leeks, herbs, carrots
I'm in Michigan too, this is my first time planting a raised garden, so much to learn, thank you for your help.
I missed this! I only have 2 weeks left before my last frost date (May 15th). Can I still plant some of these things?
