THE KING HAS RETURNED! Glad to see you back James. FYI, more Birdies bed pre-orders are live by April 15 for a late May delivery. TUCK coupon and sale price will be honored!
OMG James I really, REALLY hope you've been able to JUST DO THIS for your career. It's truly your calling. Was watching Huw Richards' channel and he mentioned you. Both of you are the best (along with Mark from Self Sufficient Me channel) on the internet. Thanks again for what you're doing to help everyone learn how to live with some food independence. Bless you and little Tuck and whomever is behind the camera. They're doing a great job too!
You and Tuck are a good team!
Hi James love watching you and your advice is priceless. I have a raised bed. Can I plant brassica and tomatoes in the same bed just not next to each other? Including other vegetables? James!!!
Your in the garden on your knees and no gloves. Aren't you worried about ticks in NJ? I am afraid when in the garden!
This is beyond excellent! thank you so much! Quick question…Do you need to seal the pine so it won't rot with rain/snow? Also, some tutorials add plant liner on the inside is it necessary? I would save me some money with the lumber prices being so high right now up here in Canada. Thanks!
with the amount of wood he used i would value that bed at around 3 to 4 hundred thousand dollars.
I just ordered my first raised bed, pre-ordered to deliver late June with discount code TUCK! So excited!!
Good stuff, thx!
Great use of a corner area. I grew up in NJ ( Hunterdon County ), lived in Western WA for 20 years, back in NE VT. This weekend required covering my tomatoes because of three nights of potential frost. Definitely a zone 3-4.
You need a cheap cement mixer to mix your soil. Works great
I like the raised bed lnfo with the concept of the square foot garden also.
Love your channel. I was going to do raised beds from wood with the hoop greenhouse film. But I really like the birdies beds. Have you built ga cover for them? I noticed in this film that yours has a 2×4 on the back.
Imho the design of the beds has a major shortcoming which is the increased difficulty in making a simple hinged PVC hoop hot house with plastic

Good to see you and Tuck back in action!
BLAH BLAH BLAH!!! CAN'T YOU PEOPLE COMMENT ANYTHING CREATIVE AND FUNNY!!!!??????
hi, I long the wood will stay ok, you didn't put anything to protect it?
I have a metal one I put where the owner# mothers had kept her refuse bins. Being partially se5 up on concrete and partially on garden works really we.. I filled it full of compost as I did the garden. Sticks on the bottom then torn up cardboard, lawn clippings on occasion, garden refuse including* all the wonderful leaves and good weeds (nasty on3# go in the bin but they are rare here, vegetable greens not used in cooking, ie: carrot tops etc. I also used my cat litter near the bottom which is pine pellets and very useful and no pregnant females around me wanting to eat my vegetables either, so the litter is ok. Normally it goes into a compost system and it only goes on the flower garden. I was in a hurry with not a great deal of money.
It’s doing really well 3 years later. It’s a great garden bed and produces well for me. It had compost on it before I planted my garlic on the shortest day, the opposite o& you4 longest day when you would have harvested your own garlic. Living in New Zealand, our seasons are opposite each other’s.
Thank you. I too like your geometric system and use it in a smaller version myself.
A Pat for your four legged furry pal.
I didn't know you had a keyhole bed, James! I just built one a week ago and came back to YT to see if I could figure out how to build a version of your hinged hoop house for it. Came across this video!
I'm building a polycrub right now and I've been stressing over how to lay out the inside. This keyhole techniques is perfect. My problems are solved. I'm guessing your keyhole is 18 inches wide inside? Am I right?
