Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
G'day Everyone, the link to the kookaburra vs tree snake video mentioned in this video is here https://youtu.be/PXYHvkz9lJA Cheers 🙂
Very informative!!
Yum
You are so lovely . Remember you to activate the subtitles. You are me english tacher , too.
Thanks you, daddy 🙂
The spider also loves cabbage lol
Holy quadriceps!!!
If this man can wear a mask while mulching his avocados, you can wear a mask when you buy the 5th bottle of wine this week in the supermarket, Karen!
I can’t wait to plant. Awesome tomatoes!
3:00 hehehehehe….
This video was very informitive, I didn't know how picky avo trees are and explains why mine died in sub tropics, free drained soil but very wet and full direct sun
Reed is the best kind of avocado.
What an inspiration. Love this guy, love his positivity and the obvious joy he gets from gardening.
My husband and I like to watch you before bed
I had to force myself to keep watching after you showed the cabbage with the spiders. I eeeeked so loudly that my husband came into the kitchen to see what had happened, lol.
I would have murdered everyone of those bloody spiders. I'm trying to get over my little phobia but damn. That totally caught me by surprise.
For avocados: what if you dig a giant hole, like 15m deep and fill with dark soil.. will it work ?
Love the daisy dukes
best way to eat mulberry is to drink it
Avocado suggestion: mix the clay soil real deep with biochar, since biochar stays "forever" you'll solve your drainage problem forever.
Love your videos! But I wonder, could you grow some runner beans in your avocados? Would they help to keep the soil loose and add nitro to the soil?
I have a lot of wild mulberry trees growing on my land. The berries taste better than wild black berries.
SO awesome seeing the Kookaburra getting the snake !! awesome. One good thing about Aussie is the wildlife..not so much the sharks tho and the snakes that bite you and kill you …oh and the spiders ….haha
Avos don't want any organic material in the soil, as it rots it takes oxygen from the roots, causing root rot. Sand, lava rock, etc, but no compost etc in the soil. All organics on top as mulch.
Love the show and the snakes, spiders and bugs as well!
Hey Mark, how are your Advocado trees doing these days? Love your channel! Such an inspirational lifestyle!
