Regardless of where you live or how old you are… there are many levels of homesteading that can be done! A wonderful garden, a small orchard, berry patch or even a few hens (if permitted) can absolutely change the entire sustainability of every family. Add in working with wood heat, cast iron and even attracting pollinators can make a huge impact on everyone’s skill sets!
Let’s look at what Gardener Sam is doing this week!
Enjoy & thanks for watching! xo

Your cousins place is awesome! I'm urban homesteading as well!
Love to see videos like this Patara! It really encourages those of us who trying to do the most we can while we are still living in town! I have learned so much from you!
this is what I'm doing while I'm saving for my homestead. I only wish the city would let us have hens here.
thank u patara for showing your cousin garden I will try to grow something on my balcony love your videos take care enjoy your family
Great video and garden! I really enjoyed it Patara. Thank you!
You are killing me with that camera work…slow down…dizzy…
People use to have "victory gardens" back in the day, it would be nice to see more yards like this one. thanks for sharing.
Wonderful. A lot done on a little space. Please do a follow-up to show his progress.
Wow so impressive! Theres proof in the pudding that no one can have a excuse for not having a garden! They did a outstanding job at integrating their perma culture roots with the birds and bees and butterflies and flowers with the edible landscape! Raised beds and whiskey barrels..love it..I always said think outside the box..GROW in anything is you dont have the space! This is a great example of how a little intuitive engineering goes along ways!! Great vid thanks for sharing
Pretty!!!
This is what we are in the process of doing. Just installed more raised bed gardens. About 20 foot by 4 foot. Live in the city with small lot, but giving it a try.
LOL ! I had a to giggle a bit when you said think out side the box ! Well i have cucumbers growing in boxes ! Those big oversize boxes that arrive from amazon they work great ! As the box breaks down over the summer it becomes compost in the garden !
For the newbys out there, save the panty hose with runs in them. They make great ties that won't damage the stalks of your tomatoes etc. Have a Blessed day Patara.
I just read a story about victory gardens that were grown during WWI and WWII. They produced so much food that when peoples stopped growing them after the wars there was a food shortage. Amazing how much small gardens can produce.
Great point about letting the soil rest by not planting. Biblical speaking one should let the land go fallow one year out of every seven years.
Even before moving to the country, we raised 100% of our family's meat on our urban homestead. You can do great things for yourself…even in the city!
Thank you❣️
Really great example of " Using what you have ". Great video. 🙂
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
I'm an urban homesteader too, and I think it brings so much value to a community. The more food production around you, the more you will be open to the idea of producing yourself. Just like the victory gardens of WW2, veggie gardens can change the world.
We urban homestead ourselves. We love gardening and raising animals. Even though we are dreaming of a place up in the mountains, we are learning and trying new things all the time right now before we get our own place. What's the point of moving to a beautiful place if you don't know what to do with it? Hopefully, come this spring, we will be processing a lot of our chickens. It's a big step for us. That is really a beautiful place they have.
I cut my teeth urban farming for 10 years before we moved and got 4.5 acres. I learned alot and it's making the transison much easyer.
how can I do this?? I need some hens and a place for them wish I could grow a darn peach tree,,,lol
Great video. I'm a suburban Homesteader also.
Wow, great idea about zip-tying the tomato cages together to make them taller!
