Cacao is a wonder fruit, as you can use it to make cacao nibs, chocolate, cacao butter, etc. I got one in the mail from Miami Fruit and decided to open the raw cacao seed pod up and taste the cacao fruit and cacao bean to see what truly RAW chocolate (even though this technically is a chocolate precursor) tastes like.

Aren't you supposed to let the seeds ferment to make them edible or something?

Looks like intestines! But it's still super cool to see the inside and hear about the flavors. Thanks!

DAYUM!!!!
Back in Asia, when i used to be little my grandma harvests them, we eat the seed, wash the seeds and then sun dry them, then we convert them by grinding to cocoa
Can you get cacao pods anywhere around San Francisco?
the inside of the cocoa pod is suprisingly DISUSTING
Rad Video! I'd love to see the follow-up to this where you ferment the seeds. Are you still planning to release that?
You should grow them

Wow, that’s awesome. Thanks for doing this video.
Just picked 20 pods from my tree. Love the pulp.

Madman talking with 2 cacao seeds in his mouth
Seen a couple of these vids, doing research for a fictional tale and can't get down there myself with travel restrictions. Yours is very thorough and well described. Will look for more from you!
I need to try this!
I remember eating this when I went to Samoa as a kid, I can’t remember what it tastes like but first I was wayyy to grossed out by it but once I tasted it I couldn’t stop eating it I’m waiting for the day I can try it again
Why do you look away when tasting.
Opened one up I bought yesterday. It was all brown, nasty, and rotten on the inside. Quite upsetting.
Dude didn't even open it right.
To me, it smelled like squash when I cut it, the fruit reminded me of a mango
Thanks for the great video! I cant find your video on fermenting the pods. Can you share it here?
I've never heard anyone pronounce it like that in my life.
Knowledge is power, thanks brother
