Another busy week and one of the signs that spring is here is our first encounter with a snake this season! Also, we chat about mulberry growing, chipping, pruning fruit trees and more.

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started SSM in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
Wow, you're handling snakes and I see one of your kids is happily barefoot amongst sharp twigs – living dangerously seems to run in your family 🙂
I only ended up with 10 mm from the rain, but I was pretty grateful for it. Nice clip mate.
Really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge and your life with us – "couch potatoes" 😉
looks like you cut down your quails. don't see a lot of them.
Could you do a video of your solar panel setup?
Lovely place ❤❤
Awesome vid and i love the bucket feeders, wish i saw that be4 i got a feeder.
Mark what happened to your arm? I see a large scar
That snake was definitely sick, probably had a bad meal. lots of people I know would just kill them but i love them and im very happy to see them just moved out of the way. I love your channel, the gardening and the quail are what im here for! 🙂
When its spring in Australia, it is the fall in Canada. When it is the summer in Australia, it is the Winter in Canada
Hey Mark love ur videos! I live up near Mackay and there are not many videos for our climate so just adapt urs for my vege gardens
First time seeing the anime videos from you. What are quails for, eating? Or for just the eggs. Because I don't think the quails live very long. I'd rather eat them.
Lucky guy living in a place like paradise but snakes are scary.
it was a green tree snake, a python, it can still bite but not deadly atleast
As a on old mulberry eater the stains on your fingers can be removed by rubbing your finger or clothing with red or green mulberries. Taught this at the age of 7 some 44 years ago.
One think i hate is is a mulberry ,When I was a kid we eat so many of them that now I cant stand them the taste of them ,to me is disgusting now even when I look at them
Nice little tree snake, i thought it was going to be a brown, i'll be you get a few of them! I know i do here in SEQ.
I really love this channel. Where in Australia are you?I am in Sydney and having a farm like this is my dream
Thank you for having respect for the snakes. In the US a lot of dumb people see a snake and grab a shovel and kill it for absolutely no reason, just total ignorance and not good for the environment.
Love this kind of video, showing all the work that needs doing. It’s inspiring to get out there and do it yourself. Keep them coming!!
Time to make some mulberry wine, Mark.
A figure eleven.., I haven't heard of one of them for nearly 40 years. Ha
Big house. Nice.
Like that kinda silence/nature sounds videos !
I really enjoyed the quiet few minutes of intro. Wonderful.
G'day Mark
Omg..take me in
I Miss mulberries.
