  1. Booo Irvine company! I have tons of wild bsf in very suburban orange county ca (before the phoebe's and sparrows get the adults anyway). they really are the perfect animal for humans and maggots is just fine by me. these insects are just amazing paired with red worms and cardboard. It can be done in an urban setting. These guys just destroy any and all garbage overnight. Only downside is they are gone in winter about November on. You dont need special gear a regular tumbler will get eggs all over it

  2. For making them breeding capable should we have to adopt special method to grow them, as the larvae sellers in my region are saying that they cannot provide for breeding as it requires special treatment to larvae, only what they can provide is for feeding purpose but alive.

  3. I had some pop up in my worm bin, I was not sure what they were. After a while they started hatching and were all over my grow room. Since the adult fly only lives about a week, I am leaving them for the time being. I wonder if they will lay in the worm bin again and repeat the cycle?

  4. I love that u touched every aspect of what u can do with this I do have reptiles and I am very strongly considering doing this because Its just fucking amazing

  5. Thank you very much for the playlist and for all your educational videos, i'm subscribing because is very difficult to find a channel so organized, I could find what I was looking for easily and now I want to see other playlist with interesting topics!! The work in this channel is precious, thank you to all of you!!

  6. You are making great videos, but if I might make a suggestion, you need to go over your closed caption texts. Closed captions are the only way that non-hearing people can enjoy your videos unless you focus on your face enough all the time to do lip reading. The Youtube software for closed caption does not handle regional accents well and you often end up with nonsense. So please for your hearing disabled viewers, always check your closed caption text before posting.

  7. I’m trying to find out wether North American Carrion beetles or their larva eat BSFL like they do house fly larva. I don’t think they do because the BSFL are so big and they also eat house fly maggots.

  8. 1:40 "Hey, you guys want to take a break from eating dinner and check out my bucket of live maggots? No need to stand up, I'll bring them to the table. I have them in a clear container, so I can put it on the table next to the yellow rice."
Cue the serious music: 9:10 "odor abatement is important. Odor production can be a real challenge and I'll go over how we can mitigate that." Just a funny coincidence.
as if it would follow with "Have you or a loved one suffered from odor? Call now, get help… we care."

  9. Thanks for introducing me to this insect. In 2019, we wanted to “grow” them but realized we would never have enough food to feed them. Got quail in March,2020 and began seeing BSF adults under the pen. Now we have thousands of larvae eating quail waste and food spillage. We love ‘em.
